Reactivity isn't always caused by aggression. Sometimes it's insecurity.
Just had our first session with Daisy the Dalmatian.
The work? Showing her how much fun she can have with us so that she stops seeking value everywhere else.
When your dog stops scanning for threats and starts checking in with you, the reactivity fades. That's not management. That's actual behavioural change.
Megan's got her plan. Daisy's insecurities don't run the show anymore.

Huey's not just my dog. He's my business partner, the best boy, and honestly, the reason so many of our clients see the breakthroughs they do.

One thing that really frustrates me as a dog trainer, and it’s something I’ve seen for the last 5 years, is how many people expect their dog to just know what to do without ever actually teaching the behaviour first.
If you don’t want your dog bolting out the front door, then you need to train an alternative.
That could be a sit, a stay, or waiting in a certain position until released — but it has to be taught.
The outside world is fun, exciting, and full of stimulation. So if you’re not giving your dog clear guidance on what to do instead, of course they’re going to choose the thing that feels more exciting.
Dogs don’t just magically know the rules.
We have to teach them.
