As far as this year’s Howard Ashton at Angle Park was concerned, Langhorne Creek trainer Tony Hinrichsen had no hesitation in setting Lil Rex for the Group 3 event over 530 metres after his effort in Mount Gambier’s lead-up race, the Trackside Pet Meats Autumn Classic (512 metres).
