Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and successful new year!

Very happy to share our new study led by my brilliant PhD student Lisa Haas with the help of the whole lab and our all-Star collaborators.

A new study led by the lab of Anna Obenauf shows how skin tumours that acquire resistance to targeted therapy are likely to be resistant to subsequent immunotherapy, a completely different form of treatment. Good timing for !

Congratulations Lukas and Pauline Jung! Well done 😊!

Pauline Jung and Lukas Leiendecker, PhD students in the lab of Anna Obenauf, won the President's Prize of the Austrian Society of Dermatology and Venereology. 🥳
The prize recognises the significance of their research on the Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare yet very aggressive type of skin cancer.

L1CAM defines the regenerative origin of metastasis-initiating cells in colorectal cancer 16/01/2020

Check out this fantastic piece of work and consider doing a postdoc in the Ganesh lab at MSKCC. A new lab to watch out for!

L1CAM defines the regenerative origin of metastasis-initiating cells in colorectal cancer The authors identify a population of L1CAM-positive cells that, following loss of epithelial integrity, promote intestinal tissue regeneration and mediate metastasis initiation and chemoresistance in colorectal cancer.

Very cool! Congrats Ameres lab!

It is really cool!

A new mural was realised in the foyer of the IMBA/GMI building. The design was made by our colleague from the Fly & Worm Facility, Balázs Érdi. The artwork called „The human touch”, represented by an abstract fingerprint, shows that sometimes you have to take a step back to see the whole picture.
