48 hours is enough to fall for the city — getting over it is a different story entirely. Two days of coffee, sea air and golden-hour aperitivo will do that to you.

This week, we had the privilege of welcoming three Ukrainian soldiers to our hideauts hotels Villa R.

They had just returned from a sports competition for disabled athletes in Italy. All three were seriously injured during the war in Ukraine and, through a program supported partially by the Ukrainian government, were given the opportunity to travel to Italy for recovery, rest, and participation in sport.
Meeting them was truly inspiring. Their courage, resilience, and determination were remarkable. Despite the life-changing injuries they have endured, they continue to pursue their goals with conviction and strength.

For many of us living far from the conflict, the war in Ukraine has unfortunately faded into the background of everyday life. Yet stories like these remind us that the war is still ongoing and continues to affect countless lives every day.

It is important that we continue to recognize and support those whose lives have been profoundly impacted by the conflict. We are grateful to have met these extraordinary individuals and wish them every success in their future endeavors.
