BIG LEGAL UPDATE: The Data (Use and Access) Act has just been passed, bringing big changes for how charities can contact supporters.
Charities now have more options for how they wish to collect and manage contact consent.
Should you switch to ‘soft opt-in’? Get our free report now on what these changes mean for you and the options now available for charities when collecting supporter data (including opt-in form examples). Download it from the Linktree link in our bio.

Happy New Year! Our Mobilisation Experts are sharing some of the charity communications which stuck with them in 2024, to inspire your campaigns this year. 💜
Praxis, for Migrants and Refugees - Valuable tools:
"When it comes to changing hearts and minds, everyday conversations can have the biggest impact. But many of us don’t feel equipped to tackle tricky conversations for fear of escalation, and instead say nothing.
I really like this step by step guide from on turning challenging conversations about migration into impactful discussions that really matter.
Free resources building skills and knowledge are a great way to take supporters from a place of wanting to help, to feeling fully empowered to influence discussions in their daily lives."
- Claire
Could you create a useful guide like this for new supporters to download in exchange for their contact details, or as a thank you for donating?

As the year comes to a close, our Mobilisation Experts are sharing some of the charity communications which stuck with them this year.
- Superb storytelling:
“I got my first volunteer role in a Sense charity shop as a teenager and ever since, the challenges deafblind people face have stayed on my mind.
I recently received a donation appeal explaining how deafblind children can experience music. Not only was it incredibly heartwarming, it gave a brilliant insight into an experience most of us would struggle to understand.
The masterful storytelling makes you feel like you’re right there in the room with three-year-old Arthur, his mum Samatha and his support worker Nicky, creating precious Christmas memories.”
- Charlotte
Image description. Three-year-old Arthur lays on his back wearing a red Christmas jumper facing items a person is holding up. A hand is holding a sound making instrument and lights above him. Headline reads: how we use music to support children who are deafblind. The Sense logo is shown.

2024 is almost over, and what a year it’s been! As always, charities across the UK have been doing incredible work to make the world a better place in so many different ways.
When we’re working on our own charitable goals, it can be tricky to find time to check out what our fellow campaigners are working on.
As a little gift to you, our mobilisation experts have each shared a campaign action or communication that really stuck with them this year. We’ll be sharing these into the new year.
The Dad Shift - Best stunt - chosen by Ed
One September morning, Londoners noticed something different on their usual commute. Across the capital, bronze statues of famous male figures that once blended in with their surroundings now sported colourful slings holding life size baby dolls.
The stunt was the work of campaign group , highlighting their call for better parental leave rights in the UK.
News homepages and social media feeds alike were full of the photos of the statues, showing how a simple action can be extremely effective in drawing national attention to your call for change.

Christmas cuteness from Cats Protection
"I don’t know about you but the thought of opening my advent calendar every morning to an adorable fluffy kitten is enough to make my heart melt!
Since that would be impractical, and irresponsible, Cats Protection have done the next best thing and are sending their supporters a rescue story about cats in their care for 25 days leading up to Christmas.
The tales (pun intended) are equal parts heartwarming and heartbreaking, and an important reminder that animal rescue is not all cute animals and cuddles and why they need supporters’ ongoing donations."
- chosen by Dani.
