There are few rivers in Bosnia and Herzegovina whose water is clean and drinkable throughout their entire course, from the source to the mouth. One of these is the Krušnica, which springs from the slopes of Grmeč, near Bosanska Krupa.

This emerald beauty flows into the Una River at the end of its seven-kilometer course, passing through enchanting nature adorned with dense green forests. The average depth of the Krušnica is seven meters, and due to its short length, it is a very cold river with an average annual temperature of around ten degrees Celsius.

The river's ecosystem is very rich, largely because it flows entirely through uninhabited areas. It is abundant in salmonid fish species, with the most common being grayling, followed by brown trout and huchen, along with many whitefish. Therefore, the Krušnica is a paradise for every passionate angler.

Legend has it that the river got its name from the ancient Latins because of its healing properties and purity (Latin: sano, sanare = to heal). 🙏

Sana is a river in northwestern Bosnia that originates from three karst springs in the village of Donja Pecka and flows into the river Una in Bosanski Novi.

It is rich in fish, especially salmonid species, and is most famous for its huchen (Hucho hucho). In its upper course, the Sana is a cold and fast river, while in the lower course, the water is slower and warmer, making it suitable for swimming during the summer. 🎣

The Zmajevac fishing area on the Sana near Kljuc is widely known for the abundance of huchen that swim there.
