And then the world just opens up.

Leaving the trees behind, the trail turns into open countryside — long stretches, big skies, and that feeling like you could just keep riding forever.

That’s Mel from Recumbent PDX up ahead… one of those moments where you don’t really need to say anything.

Just ride.

These are the stretches that stay with you.

No traffic. No noise. Just the sound of the tires and the wind… and the sense that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

And just like that… Vienna starts to fade behind you.

The city streets turn into quiet paths.
The noise disappears.
And suddenly you’re riding through places like this.

Somewhere along the way from Vienna to Uherský Brod, it stops feeling like an event… and starts feeling like a journey.

That’s Paul down there, pulling his trailer through the trees — just a small line moving through a massive landscape.

It’s a different perspective.

From the ground, you’re in the ride.
From above, you realize how small you are in it.

And honestly… that’s part of the magic.

Vienna doesn’t ease you into it…

It just hits you with this.

Massive, detailed, centuries-old architecture everywhere you look — the kind of places that make you stop riding, look up, and just take it in for a minute.

Granden and I posted up here for a quick shot, but honestly… photos don’t really do it justice.

When you’re riding through a city like this, it adds another layer to the whole experience.

You’re not just on a ride.
You’re moving through history.

And somehow… this was just the beginning.

One of the questions I get all the time:

“How do you even travel with a trike like that?”

Like this 😄

After doing it enough times, you start to figure it out — and at this point I’ve torn my Ti-FLY X down and rebuilt it so many times, it’s basically a system.

Break it down.
Protect the key parts.
Fit it into a standard bike box.
Mix in some luggage.

Done.

Well… mostly.

The one thing that always takes a little extra thought?
The seat frame.

Everything else packs down pretty clean, but that piece… you’ve got to plan around it.

Still — once you get the process dialed in, it opens up everything.

Flying with a trike stops feeling crazy… and just becomes part of the routine.

One thing about this ride…

You’re going to meet some characters 😄

Some people keep things pretty low-key…
and others? Well… they wear it right on the outside.

And then there are the ones you’re not quite sure about 🤔

That’s part of what made this whole experience so fun — not just the bikes, not just the places… but the personalities.

Every stop, every ride, every conversation — a mix of people you’d never normally cross paths with.

And somehow it all just works.

One of the biggest perks of a tour like this?

Not having to carry all your stuff 😄

When you’re riding solo or bikepacking, everything you need is strapped to your bike… and you feel every bit of it.

But on a coordinated tour like this?

You ride light.

And somewhere behind the scenes, there’s a van like this carrying all the gear — clothes, extras, everything you don’t want weighing you down on the road.

It completely changes the ride.

You’re faster. More comfortable. More focused on the experience instead of managing your load.

So yeah… big shoutout to the AZUB crew for hauling all our stuff so we could just enjoy the ride 🙌

This is my Ti-FLY X… taking a break while we explored Vienna.

And honestly, this is one of the most underrated parts of a tour like this.

You’re not hauling camping gear.
You’re not stressing about where to sleep.
You’re not packing your entire life onto the bike.

Just a couple Ortlieb bags… and you’re free to ride.

Even better — every stop is coordinated.

You roll in, park the trike, and someone is already there keeping an eye on everything. No worrying about leaving your setup behind while you wander off to explore.

It changes the whole experience.

Instead of managing the ride… you actually get to enjoy it.

And when you’re riding something like this, that’s exactly what you want to be doing.

Part of the AZUB team, and honestly a perfect example of what makes the whole group what it is.

Down to earth. Passionate about what they do. No ego. No nonsense.

Just people who genuinely care about building great bikes… and enjoying the ride (and yeah, maybe a beer along the way).

There’s something very… Czech about it.

Simple. Real. Unpretentious.

And after spending time with the team, you realize — that mindset is built into everything they do.

Not your average group ride…

This was one of the coolest parts of the whole event — the mix.

Recumbent trikes, two-wheel recumbents, upright bikes, e-powered, fully “acoustic”… and then something like this rolls in 😄

A velomobile.

If you’ve never seen one before, it’s basically a human-powered (sometimes assisted) bullet on wheels.

And somehow… it all works together.

Different speeds. Different styles. Different philosophies of riding — all sharing the same road.

That’s what made this ride feel different.

It wasn’t about one way to ride.

It was about all of them.

This is what the start of a group ride actually looks like…

A little chaos. A lot of adjustments. Everyone doing their own thing.

And right in the middle of it all — Honza.

You can almost see it on his face…
“Alright… what have I gotten myself into?” 😄

But honestly, he handled it like a pro.

Coordinating riders from all over the world, different bikes, different speeds, different expectations — it’s not exactly simple.

And yet… calm, focused, and ready to herd a bunch of very independent “cats” onto the road.

That’s the part you don’t think about — someone has to make all of this actually work.

And Honza did.
