On the last day of the year I like to go through my archive of memories. I feel incredibly lucky and grateful for the life I get the live: day after day of intense moments, a life full of beauty, of inimitable people that inspire me, of friendships that continue to grow, of laughter, tears, and music. A path that is peppered with magical encounters, with enough extraordinary experiences in a year to last a lifetime. A life full of love and kinship, an ever expanding web of curious souls, a cabinet of wonders.
Thank you for yet another year of magic - May we all be so lucky in the new year!

This is “Neil Gow’s lament for the death of his second wife”, a beautiful Scottish tune in memory of my friend Rafa Howell who passed away yesterday. Many, if not most memories of my youth orchestra days and teenage music-making years in Costa Rica feature him. He was one of those people who you just had to love, and he will always be someone whose memory will invariably make me smile. He left a mark on all of us in that generation, and I’m sure continued to do so along the way. Wish I could be back home sharing Rafa stories with everyone. So here’s a little something by way of a goodbye.
