A NOSEY MONKEY 🐵 👃 is an interactive art installation that turns your nose into a drawing tool.

It’s strange, funny, and surprisingly beautiful—an experiment in perception, play, and what happens when humans and machines make art together.

Come draw with your nose.
Then watch a robot draw what you drew.

I’m increasingly interested in playing with my drawing robots with other people. I’m sort of over drawing alone. Open doors is the perfect chance for testing interactive art installations. had 1500 people visit over two days and I tried really hard to get them inside my studio having fun. We drew monkeys with noses, messed up a collaborative drawing, and rewrote futures. It was insanely fun and exhausting and like every year I didn’t video enough of it—but I think these days, it is a good sign if you are too in the moment to pick up your phone.

🙈 👃 Last weekend at Open Doors, I finally got to test out what I had been working on for a bit: monkey drawing with your nose 😃

It was pretty amazing. When they pressed the done button the Axidraw would immediately plot their monkey. The second day I added functionality so I could immediately print a second copy for them to take home.

So yeah where does monkey nose drawing go next?! And also what is the art? The monkeys, the experience, or the videos 😃?!
