🎓 Alumni Portrait: Syed Ali Turab

For Syed Ali Turab, Austria feels like coming home. After spending four memorable years here during his PhD, he returned in 2025 with an Ernst Mach Follow-up Grant to continue his research at the University of Graz. 🔬

As an Assistant Professor at the University of Peshawar, Syed used his research stay to learn new techniques, analyse samples and work on new and exciting results.

Beyond academia, he enjoyed Austria’s culture, landscapes and friendly atmosphere — from the Donau-Insel-Fest in Vienna to BBQs with friends along the Danube.

His advice to future students and researchers?
“Enjoy your life and work and the beautiful landscape and culture of Austria.”

Austrian Reception at EAIE 2026 in Glasgow ✨

On 9 September 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming more than 200 guests from 20 countries to the EAIE Reception at the beautiful Oran Mor in Glasgow.

Hosted by OeAD in cooperation with Advantage Austria London and oeadstudenthousing, the evening brought together representatives from across Europe and beyond for inspiring conversations and new connections.

A special highlight of the evening was our “Celebrating the UK’s Return to Erasmus+” prize draw!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening such a success!

We are looking forward to an inspiring and successful week together! With representatives from 34 Austrian higher education institutions and around 100 participants from Austria, we are proud to represent Austria’s higher education landscape at this year’s EAIE.

Under the “Study in Austria” brand, we are showcasing the diversity and excellence of Austria’s higher education sector, connecting with partners from across the globe, strengthening collaborations, and exchanging perspectives on the latest developments in the internationalisation of higher education. 🌍🤝

The two-week program of the University of Vienna’s Sommerhochschule combines first class academic courses with an extensive social and cultural program – giving students a deep insight into Vienna’s fin-de-siècle culture and modernization of Europe.

Taught in English, open to international students worldwide.

A university degree doesn’t have to start with a traditional academic path. Hochschule Campus Wien is launching a new Study Qualification Programme, designed to prepare people with professional or equivalent qualifications for entry into a Bachelor’s degree programme.

💡 The programme is aimed at people with, for example:
▪️ a completed apprenticeship
▪️ a vocational secondary school qualification
▪️ a master craftsperson qualification
▪️ an equivalent qualification from abroad

Participants receive targeted academic preparation, personal support and the opportunity to become familiar with university life before starting their degree.

Start: September 2026 or February 2027
Location: University of Applied Sciences | Hochschule Campus Wien
Fees: from €726.72
Duration: up to two semesters
