Untethered and ultrafast soft-bodied robots 24/09/2020

Fly-catching-fast soft magnetic robots! Read all about it in our new publication https://www.nature.com/articles/s43246-020-00067-1 that was done in collaboration with Denys Makarov at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf

Congratulation to Guoyong and all the co-authors on this wonderful work!

Untethered and ultrafast soft-bodied robots Robotic devices that can actuate at high speeds are challenging to achieve. Here, soft robotic devices driven by low magnetic fields show large deformations at frequencies of up to 100 Hz and are capable of a range of motions, including cross-clapping, walking, swimming and closing around a living f...

Soft electromagnetic actuators 13/07/2020

Sharks and flowers made using soft electromagnetic actuators (SEMAs)! Read more about these amazing shape morphing system made out of silicone and liquid metal in the article by Mao Guoyong in Science Advances! Congratulations to Guoyong and all the co-authors!

Find the full article here:

Soft electromagnetic actuators Rigid electromagnetic actuators serve our society in a myriad of ways for more than 200 years. However, their bulky nature restricts close collaboration with humans. Here, we introduce soft electromagnetic actuators (SEMAs) by replacing solid metal coils with liquid-metal channels embedded in elasto...
