This weekend, we attended the Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg Schulbasar not only for the selling of one of our fav foods such as "𝙇𝙚𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙠𝙖̈𝙨 / 𝙁𝙡𝙚𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙠𝙖̈𝙨𝙚", but also as a representative of Afridirndl® and the growing cultural connection between South Africa 🇿🇦and Germany 🇩🇪.
It was also inspiring to see the commitment of German Embassy Pretoria 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗸𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗭𝘂𝗹𝘂, 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗱𝗶, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗮𝗮𝗻𝘀, demonstrating how language can build understanding and respect between nations.
Wearing a bespoke brown Shweshwe Afridirndl® with a silk apron and traditional horn buttons, paired with brown Timberland South Africa boat shoes (because we're rooted on the coast of Durban). I was reminded how fashion can bridge cultures and celebrate shared heritage.
