I have been a traveller since 2007. I have travelled 48 provinces in the Philippines and counting. Now I can dance because clouds have all disappeared.

Join me as I complete the journey of a lifetime to every corners of our beautiful country of the Philippines. This is the freedom I hoped so deep because nobody knows me here. Though I can only imagine sadness in your eyes, please understand. Now I can dance.

Thank you, Lord!

The Journey of Jan Michael Lubgoban: The 243rd Filipino to Complete All 82 Provinces

“I wanted to see with my own eyes how beautiful the Philippines truly is.” That was how Jan Michael Lubgoban began his decade-long journey, a personal mission to rediscover the country he calls home. What started as a childhood fascination with black-and-white photos in schoolbooks grew into a burning desire to witness, firsthand, the wonders of the Philippines. For him, travel was not just about sightseeing, it was about proving that exploring and supporting local destinations is both meaningful and patriotic.

His journey officially began on January 1, 2005, in San Enrique, Negros Occidental. From there, he traveled across islands, mountains, and coastlines, each destination teaching him something new about life, culture, and the Filipino spirit. “I learned that the world doesn’t revolve around Manila alone,” he reflected. “Every corner of the Philippines, from Batanes to Tawi-Tawi, has its own heartbeat, identity, and way of life.”

At first, Jan Michael joined group trips organized by travel clubs. But over time, his confidence and curiosity led him to explore on his own. He began solo journeys, starting in Catanduanes and continuing all the way to Tawi-Tawi, which would later become the final province to complete his nationwide adventure.

His travels became even more flexible when he transitioned to remote work. “Working online gave me the freedom to stay longer in one place and move easily from province to province,” he said. “It allowed me to truly experience each community beyond just being a visitor.”

After ten years of determination, exploration, and countless memories, Jan Michael Lubgoban finally fulfilled his dream. He officially became the 243rd Filipino to visit all 82 provinces of the Philippines, a feat that symbolizes not just endurance, but deep love and respect for the nation’s beauty and diversity.

His final stop, Tawi-Tawi, marked both the end of his physical journey and the beginning of a lifelong advocacy: to inspire others to travel locally, connect deeply, and take pride in the Philippines.
