In the recent session of Future Leaders Academy 2.0, we were delighted to host Laura Simonyan, democratic governance and gender equality expert and consultant, as our guest speaker.

Laura delivered an insightful and engaging presentation on women’s political leadership, with a particular focus on gender equality and the role of inclusive communication in political discourse. She shared valuable perspectives on both local and international regulatory frameworks, as well as the current state of women’s leadership in Armenian politics. Special attention was given to the importance of gender-sensitive approaches in shaping more inclusive and effective political environments.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where participants explored key challenges and opportunities in advancing gender equality and strengthening women’s leadership in politics, while exchanging views and reflections on fostering more inclusive societies.

Future Leaders Academy 2.0 remains committed to equipping young leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to drive meaningful change.

In the recent session of Future Leaders Academy 2.0, we were delighted to host journalist and media expert Astghik Karapetyan, co-founder and leader of Point 33 NGO, as our guest speaker.

Astghik delivered an engaging and insightful presentation on the nature and evolution of media, with a particular focus on media literacy in today’s rapidly changing information environment. Special attention was given to disinformation, its different types, how it spreads, and practical ways individuals can identify and counter it as responsible media users. The session was enriched with real-life examples that helped participants better understand the real-world impact of misleading information.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where participants exchanged views, raised questions, and reflected on how to foster safer and more inclusive information spaces.

Future Leaders Academy 2.0 remains committed to equipping young leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to drive meaningful change.

The program is implemented by the International Human Rights Legal Center, in partnership with and funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Armenia.

The Future Leaders Academy 2.0 officially launched its first session with an interactive introduction of participants, placing a strong emphasis on networking and building initial connections. Participants were given the opportunity to introduce themselves, share their backgrounds, interests, and professional aspirations, and begin establishing meaningful relationships within the group.

The session created a welcoming and engaging environment, encouraging open dialogue and fostering a strong sense of community from the very outset. Through a combination of informal exchanges and ice-breaking activities, participants actively engaged with one another, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mutual learning throughout the program.

The Future Leaders Academy 2.0 is a non-formal educational program implemented by the International Human Rights Legal Center, in cooperation with and funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Armenia.

Opening Ceremony of the Future Leaders Academy 2.0

The Future Leaders Academy 2.0 officially launched with a formal opening event that brought together selected participants and distinguished guests.

The opening remarks were delivered by Her Excellency Marieke Monroy-Winter, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Armenia, who warmly greeted the participants and underlined the importance of strengthening and empowering Armenia’s emerging generation of leaders.

Arnold Vardanyan, President of the International Human Rights Legal Center, also extended his welcome to the participants. In his remarks, he outlined the origins and achievements of the programme, highlighted its relevance for Armenia, and presented the anticipated impact of its second generation.

Subsequently, Anita Grigoryan, Programme Assistant and a graduate of the first cohort of the programme, reflected on the achievements of the first edition of the Academy and emphasised its transformative impact on participants from a wide range of professional and academic backgrounds.

The formal part of the event was followed by a networking session, offering participants and guests the opportunity to connect, exchange perspectives and express their shared enthusiasm for the goals of the Academy.

We are pleased to share our new initiative, we have submitted our observations in the form of a report to the UN Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, Ms. Margaret Satterthwaite, for the preparation of her forthcoming thematic report on the principles of judicial appointments.

The report highlights the key issues affecting judicial independence in Armenia and examines the principles, standards, and established practices governing the selection and appointment of judges.
