Hello everyone! The fifth month [May] of the new season of “12 Months” explores the theme “Values and Belongings,” curated by Storaket Architectural Studio in collaboration with Sherly Avedian .
•
This month, the exploration and expression of the theme will unfold through a single book, “Armenian Churches of Iran” by Sherly Avedian, which you can read in our library throughout the month.
•
Sherly Avedian is an architect, cultural heritage researcher, and author whose journey bridges education, scholarship, and cross-cultural dialogue across countries.
•
The bilingual (Armenian, English) book-album presents the Armenian churches and monasteries located in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Who defines a system of values, and what makes something truly valuable? Who has the authority to assign meaning, ownership, or belonging to ideas, places, and cultural heritage? These questions become especially complex when dealing with historical environments and monuments—where preservation, transformation, and contemporary use often intersect and conflict.

It’s almost LFA’s 3rd birthday, and we’re excited to invite you to our celebration, ‘Modeladaran’, which consists of two parts: (1) the exhibition ‘Model Making as a Tool’ and (2) the interactive workshop ‘Collective Element’.

(1) Model Making as a Tool
The library reading room will become a week-long exhibition space dedicated to architectural models. The exhibition features works from local studios and architects, each presenting a model that best represents their practice. Through these works, we explore how models function as tools for thinking, making, and developing architectural ideas.

LFA has been collecting the “Documents of Armenian Architecture” series over the years. The series comprises 23 volumes, published by OEMME Edizioni in Venice between 1968 and 1998, and edited by the Faculty of Architecture of the Milan Polytechnic in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
•
Over time, the collection has been assembled through both purchases and generous gifts. Among them is “Haghpat”, gifted by Hayk Arustamyan , who specially brought it from New York for LFA.
•
At present, our library holds all the volumes except the 21st [Nor/Djulfa]. 
•
We are looking for the missing volume to complete our collection. If you have a copy and would be willing to gift it, we would be very grateful. Please get in touch with us!

LFA-ը տարիների ընթացքում հավաքում է «Documents of Armenian Architecture» շարքի գրքերը։ Շարքը բաղկացած է 23 հատորից, որոնք հրատարակվել են Վենետիկի OEMME Edizioni հրատարակչության կողմից 1968–1998 թվականներին և խմբագրվել Միլանի պոլիտեխնիկական համալսարանի Ճարտարապետության ֆակուլտետի և Հայաստանի գիտությունների ազգային ակադեմիայի համագործակցությամբ։

Ժամանակի ընթացքում հավաքածուն համալրվել է ինչպես գնումների, այնպես էլ նվերների միջոցով։ Նրանցից է «Haghpat» հատորը, որը նվիրել է Հայկ Առուստամյանը ՝ բերելով Նյու Յորքից հատուկ LFA-ի համար։

In November 2025, a new season of the 12 Months program was launched. The season focuses on a special “Theme of the Month,” explored by the library’s co-founders in collaboration with invited experts and friends. Each month creates a space for deeper engagement and discussion around the chosen topic.

1/12 Interview: Arsen Karapetyan, co-founder of LFA and founder of d’Arvestanots , together with Garegin Yeghoyan, founder of ARCHcoop , discussed the theme of their month, “Nationality,” which marked the first topic of the new season of the “12 Months” project.

2) “People are afraid of the international language of architecture, probably because they haven’t mastered it well. On April 15 at 18:00, LFA will host William Wikström for a lecture titled “Fragments and the Whole: Collecting Architecture at ArkDes.”
•
William Wikström is an architect and assistant curator at ArkDes – home to the
national collections of Architecture in Sweden. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in
Architecture from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and a Master of Fine Arts
in Spatial Design from Konstfack. At the moment he works with the museums collections
exhibition, an ongoing work where all objects are exchanged once a year.
•
ArkDes is Sweden’s national centre for architecture and design. It is a museum, a study
centre and an arena for debate and discussion about the future of architecture, design and
citizenship. The collection currently comprises around four million objects, books, journals,
models, photographs and drawings that cover Swedish architecture from the 1850s up to the
present day. Around 600 architects are represented within the collection.
