SWISSA, founded in September 2017, was created to fill the lack of communication channels between the business community of Switzerland and Albania.

On June 17, SWISSA, in partnership with SwissContact Albania, hosted the roundtable discussion “Integrating Albanian Businesses into the European Market: The Role of Business Membership Organizations in Developing Human Capital.”
The event brought together representatives of business organizations, private sector leaders, and development partners to exchange perspectives on the opportunities and challenges that Albania’s EU integration process presents for the business community.
Discussions focused on three key questions:
• What does the European market require from Albanian businesses?
• How can companies be better supported in strengthening competitiveness and developing human capital?
• What role should business organizations play in helping their members navigate this transition?
At SWISSA, we believe that successful integration into the European market goes beyond regulatory alignment. It requires stronger skills, higher productivity, innovation, and closer collaboration between businesses, institutions, and support organizations.
The roundtable provided an important platform for dialogue and cooperation, highlighting the shared responsibility of business organizations in preparing Albanian enterprises to meet European standards and seize new growth opportunities.
We thank all speakers, panelists, and participants for their valuable contributions and commitment to building a more competitive, resilient, and future-ready private sector.

Strengthening the Parliament’s oversight role
At a roundtable discussion with the Parliament’s Committee on Citizens' Initiatives, Inter-institutional Cooperation and Oversight, Members of Parliament, civil society organizations, and media representatives discussed ways to enhance the effectiveness of parliamentary oversight in Albania.
The discussion highlighted the importance of stronger collaboration between Parliament, independent institutions, civil society, and other oversight bodies to ensure greater accountability and transparency.
“Switzerland’s support for the Albanian Parliament emphasizes particularly the fact that the legislative body needs to oversee the executive effectively and independently,” said Philipp Arnold, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Switzerland.
