“Freedom Still Calling” is the theme for the 2026 Reverend Dr. Wycherley Gumbs Award for Creative Non-Fiction, and the Malliouhana Poetry Committee is inviting submissions that honour the transformative legacy of the late renowned Anguillian Methodist Minister, author and poet.

This year's theme encourages reflection on the enduring impact of emancipation, the ongoing pursuit of justice and reparation, and the importance of preserving and honouring the achievements and struggles of those who came before us.

Eligible submissions may include:
• Essays
• Memoirs
• Biographies
• Literary Journalism
• Articles
• Opinion Editorials
• Other Creative Non-Fiction Works

Residents on Anguilla may participate in either the Teen Category (15–17 years) or the Adult Category (18 years and older). Submissions must be the original and unpublished work of the author and should reflect the theme. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

The winners will be announced at the Annual Emancipation Lecture on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Guidelines and additional information are available from the Anguilla Public Library (497-2441) or by emailing [email protected].
