Microsoft has officially documented and broadly released a new IT administrative policy that allows enterprises to automatically remove the standalone Microsoft Copilot app from managed Windows 11 devices.
✅ The new policy, RemoveMicrosoftCopilotApp, became widely available after the April 2026 Patch Tuesday updates.
✅ It gives organizations greater control over AI application governance across managed endpoints.
✅ Supported via Microsoft Intune (MDM), Group Policy, and deployable using SCCM.
✅ Applies to Windows 11 version 25H2 with KB5083769 or later installed.
This move reflects Microsoft’s acknowledgment that enterprises need flexibility and choice when adopting AI features—especially in regulated or security‑sensitive environments.

As part of the April 2026 Patch Tuesday security updates, Microsoft has rolled out a significant behavioral change in the Windows Remote Desktop Connection (MSTSC) application — specifically designed to counter .RDP‑based phishing attacks.
🔍 What’s the risk?
Remote Desktop (.rdp) files are increasingly being weaponized by threat actors to trick users into opening connections that silently redirect sessions to attacker‑controlled infrastructure — often bypassing traditional security controls.
What’s new in MSTSC?
- New warning dialogs when opening .rdp files
- The Publisher field now displays “Unknown publisher”
- This is flagged as the highest‑risk scenario, indicating possible tampering or phishing
- Designed to disrupt blind trust and force user awareness before the connection is established
Why this matters
RDP phishing is a growing initial‑access vector that can lead to:
- Credential harvesting
- Session hijacking
- Lateral movement
- Full domain compromise
This update adds a critical security checkpoint exactly where attackers try to blend in.

💬 Are your users trained to recognize malicious .rdp files — or are they still “clicking through” warnings?
