Yes I paint like a 4yo 🤗🫟

Tonight I joined an online community art therapy session, graciously hosted by Dr Mariam Halawani & Dr Sara Powell, with the theme of “from the storm to shelter”,
a space to express through visual material our emotions during the current “storm” in the skies of our region, what represents our “shelter”, and creating a link between them.

The art shared was very poignant and beautiful 🥹

Most of my time painting was in “the storm”.
It’s so easy to get caught in there.
I wanted to paint black everywhere, and saw my hand painting blankets of black shapes that were coming from all directions toward the centre. I noticed the heads of those shapes looked like the tips of missiles, entering from every direction, yet their darkness could never reach the middle.
The middle was a little ball of light.
Feeling engulfed from all sides. But present.
It’s deepest centre white, unreachable by anything external. It’s peripheries streaked with yellow and red.
Yellow for hope, and red for where it was wounded and bleeding.
It poured little blue tears.
Raining down to form an ocean below.

Then came “the shelter”.
The Eucharist was in the centre.
God. Source of life, peace and refuge.
The hearts represented community,
all the beings around me that I love and appreciate,
knowing we are never alone.
The musical notes represented Maronite hymns,
that soothe my soul,
and the sun represented the sun 😄 the warmth of sunshine on my skin, fresh air in my lungs, and nature.

And then a rope bridge, connecting that light in the storm to her Creator in His refuge.

What did this experience do for me?
It grounded me in my shelter.
Storms can engulf us, but when we place our eyes on our Shelter, in that moment, the storm fades away.
It also broke down the different elements of my distress, giving them recognition and a welcomed space.
And it gave perspective.

Art therapy, highly recommend 😉🫟

Social Media Linked to Increased Risk of Delusion-Based Disorders

A recent study reveals that extensive social media use strongly correlates with increased risks for psychiatric disorders characterized by delusional thinking, such as narcissism, body dysmorphia, and anorexia.

Researchers found that high engagement with social platforms can reinforce distorted self-images and unrealistic beliefs, largely due to a lack of real-life checks and balances.

Social isolation combined with immersive online environments further exacerbates these delusional states, making individuals more vulnerable to mental health conditions.
