Health Insurance Premium Rates for Northern Emirates

Health insurance was mandatory in only certain emirates of the UAE till last year. As per new government regulations, health insurance is now mandatory for all of UAE, including the northern emirates of Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Ajman.

In line with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security's decision to grant a two-month grace period starting from 1st of September 2024 for violators of the country's entry and residence regulations to adjust their status, the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi announces a waiver of health insurance fines for violators, provided their requests for status adjustment are approved by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security's.
The Department urges all violators to seize this opportunity to obtain approval and renew or secure a health insurance policy, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring healthcare services are accessible to all members of Abu Dhabi's community.
