Digitising EX Inspections – Moving Beyond Paper-Based Compliance
In hazardous areas, inspection quality isn’t just important — it’s critical to safety, compliance, and operational continuity. At OES, we are transforming traditional EX inspections through digital asset integrity solutions powered by ARCUS.
What does this mean for operators?
Instead of static reports and manual tracking, or extensive excel spreadsheets, EX inspections are now:
• Cloud Based & Secure SSL
• Fully traceable with QR-enabled tagging
• Digitally recorded with real-time data access
• Instantly available for audit and compliance verification
The result:
✔ Improved hazardous area compliance (IEC/NEC)
✔ Faster inspection cycles and reduced downtime
✔ Real-time visibility of Ex asset condition
✔ Data-driven maintenance and decision making
This approach turns EX inspections from a compliance requirement into a strategic asset integrity tool.
Hazardous area inspections are not just a regulatory requirement—they are critical to preventing catastrophic incidents. At OES Asset Integrity Management, our CompEx-certified engineers deliver detailed Ex inspections across drilling rigs and facilities worldwide, ensuring equipment is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose
At OES, we don’t just inspect — we provide complete lifecycle visibility of your Ex hazardous area equipment.
If you're looking to modernise your hazardous area inspection strategy, let’s talk.

OES RigPro Training Course
OES RigPro™ Training in Action – Aberdeen
What does a good drilling rig inspection actually look like?
Great to deliver our RigPro Drilling Rig Equipment Inspection Training course at the OES office in Aberdeen, bringing together industry professionals to deepen their understanding of drilling rig equipment, inspection practices and operational assurance.
This 4-day course bridges the gap between equipment knowledge, inspection methodology and real-world operational experience, helping participants identify equipment deficiencies and improve inspection confidence across drilling operations. The course draws on real-world case studies and inspection data from thousands of rig surveys globally and focuses on practical knowledge applied in the field.
During the session we covered key areas including:
Drilling systems — mast structures, crown & travelling blocks, drawworks and top drives
Mud systems — pumps, fluid systems and power units
Electrical safety & hazardous area equipment
Well control equipment — BOPs, choke manifolds and valves
Mechanical handling, automation & lifting systems
Multiple choice quizzes each day, with a final quiz at the end of the course.
Our instructor provided an interactive, case-study approach, allowing participants to apply practical inspection thinking to real equipment scenarios, identifying defects and discussing their impact on safety, reliability and performance. At OES, we believe stronger inspection knowledge leads to safer operation, improved reliability and reduced downtime with correct planning and management.
With increasing focus on safety, reliability and equipment integrity, strengthening inspection competency across the industry has never been more important. This course is being accredited by IADC.
A big thank you to everyone who joined the session in Aberdeen.
If you’re interested in attending or hosting our two courses [Onshore & Offshore], feel free to reach out. OES will launch a new booking system in mid-April 2026. Courses will be delivered in Muscat, Cairo, Dubai, Doha, Dammam, Jakarta, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh, Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Houston & Aberdeen through 2026
