There’s a lot of pressure to become someone new at the start of the year. Not every new year needs reinvention. Sometimes growth looks like choosing peace, slowly and intentionally.

30/12/2025

2025 almost broke me both personally and professionally.

I know it’s cliché to say at the end of each year that“it was hard” and stop there. I’m not interested in doing that. Instead, I want to acknowledge the difficulty and honour what it taught me.

This year further affirmed to me that:
⭐️ I’m stronger than I give myself credit for
⭐️ I’m way more capable than I realise
⭐️ I can hold grief, stress, and gratitude at the same time
⭐️ I don’t need external validation to know I’m doing well
⭐️ My intuition is usually right, I just need to listen sooner
⭐️ Saying “no” and upholding boundaries is vital for my wellbeing
⭐️ Peace is a priority, not a reward

I carried expectations, family needs, leadership pressure, identity shifts, and the constant question of “Am I doing enough?”

There were moments I felt stretched thin between career, motherhood, marriage, and simply staying afloat in a fast-paced expat life.

And there were especially moments where showing up felt like the hardest win of all.

This year refined me, challenged boundaries, and reshaped priorities. Alhumdulillah for what I have in life and what I’ve been through. Here’s to a more positive new year inshaAllah.

💬 What is one boundary you will carry with you into 2026?

The final term is here… and so is the chaos

Swipe through for a day in the life of international teacher in Dubai, as we kick off the last leg of the school year. Spoiler: it wasn’t smooth. By 8am, I felt like I had run a marathon.

The first day back after break hit hard. From snoozed alarms to a to-do list that just won’t quit: being a teacher means there’s no such thing as easing into the final term… it’s full steam ahead! That means jumping straight into deadlines, data, and decisions.

Somehow, both you and your students are simultaneously DONE but absolutely WIRED for the final stretch before summer break.

Amidst the chaos, there’s something grounding about this last term. The reflection. The growth. The tiny wins that remind you why you do this.
It’s the final term, and it’s a sprint.

What happens when Bangladeshi heritage meets Palestinian resistance in fashion? ✊🏽

You get a garment woven to tell a powerful story.

When I first approached last year about making this piece, it was because I wanted something that unifies shared culture of resistance between Bangladesh and Palestine.

I approached Palestinian friends about this idea too, so that we could create something respectful of Palestinian culture and heritage.

This piece blends elements from both cultures, symbolising two nations tied by struggle, resilience, and unwavering pride.

Bangladesh’s deep green and red flag echoes its fight for independence. Whist, Palestine’s keffiyeh pattern speaks of survival, heritage, and resistance. Made from cotton, it is incredibly comfortable to wear.

From the keffiyeh’s iconic net pattern, symbolising a connection to the sea, to the bold red of Bangladesh’s flag representing the blood of martyrs, every part of this design holds meaning.

Both cultures carry stories of colonialism, revolution, and reclaiming identity. And now, they meet on fabric.

➡️ Swipe to explore the details.
💌 DM Silkandy by Mitu to get your own piece. Part of the sales will be donated to Palestinian families.
✊🏽Wear it with purpose. Wear it with pride.

💬 Tell us in the comments: Which element of this design speaks to you most?

G'day! What's new? It's been a minute.👋🏼

The last few months have been a bit crazy for me. In the last few months, I:

👩🏽‍🏫 started working again after 1.5 years off and 8 months of looking for a job

🏫 secured a new job that I'll be starting very soon (wish me luck 🫶🏼)

🏡 visited home for the first time with Nova

🧳 broke my fear of flying with a toddler, whether it was interstate or long haul

💫 had a massive learning curve as a parent while in Australia for 6 weeks

🎓 graduated with distinction from my Master's program

🩷 watched Barbie on opening weekend in Sydney with my sister because the movie's release date was delayed in the UAE

Suffice to say May to August has been wild, but I'm grateful I experienced all the things I've experienced.

So, how've you been?
