some digital lettering done to the tunes of U2’s with or without you — post reads i can live with or without you. it’s true, we as people can live with or without others. it might feel like an achievement to live on our own, to get rid of people. in some cases, breakups are meant to happen, friendships need to end. but i will say, the more the modern world progresses the more it becomes apparent what being on our own has done to our mental psyches and societal shifts. positive version/swipe for negative.

*personal opinion*
as much as we try to be. as much as we try to plan and exert influence over our surroundings, as much as we yearn for control. most of what happens to us, and what’s around us, is beyond our control; the more life happens the more the desire of being in control gradually fades - a realization hits: nature, earth, society, whatever ‘life’ is; we’re susceptible to a lot of things. a more humble acknowledgment of our limitations in the face of this intricate web we call existence arises instead.

my last post ‘hatred is not a religion’ got so much hate from many different people for many different reasons that i caved in, deleted it, deleted instagram and spiraled; how could i not: endless negative messages, threats, wrongful accusations, some people even trash talking the design aspect.
i’m not in the best mental state recently, designing and lettering are the two things i had to express my feelings and escape. these people made me feel insecure and i went into a state of fear. i got threatened, called out as a liar by some, a sinner by others, all because i did a piece to call out the truth, or at least my truth.
i never claimed religion is bad but hatred will never be a religion. hating in the name of a god is probably the worst of sins, i would think. the mere fact that you were hating on this statement shows what kind of ‘religious’ person you are.
long story short, lots of fear, anxiety and stress have been present in my mind lately. but i’m working through them, trying to get back on my feet. hatred and ignorance will never win and silence my opinions.
be kind to the people around you, check in on your friends. i was spiraling alone for a couple weeks now; as much as we’d like to believe we’re strong enough on our own, nothing beats togetherness.

with everything going on in these past couple of weeks I frankly can’t seem to be able to ‘let it go’ and regain focus to just exist. a feeling of ‘unsafe’ arises yet again. if you truly believe committing hate crimes in the name of religion is what your god wants, I’m here to remind you that hatred is not a religion, applicable regardless of what religion speaks to you. at the end of the day, they all preach the goodness in things, a calm soul and love and peace. here’s an idea of what you can do instead: read a book or two. listen to the human in you that seems to have disappeared from most people. wake up, what we need is each other. enough with the hate and pain and negativity. life’s pretty dumb and short.

PSA: get your head out of your own *ss. The world doesn’t revolve around you and your point of view. Stop being so conceited. Look around you.

No hashtags no nothing. This post is out of pure anger. Communities are extinct in the modern age, a thing of the past. This is about design but it goes to everything. Has it ever been about Design though? It the followers, the popularity, the looks and social status? Keep gatekeeping your small little pathetic secrets and feel oh-so-special about yourself in your small community of likeminded airheads. Don’t forget however to keep preaching about helping upcoming future artists and wanting to be a community to strive together better! Yet, gatekeep your connections, opportunities and networking events to the cool club only. Compete with yourself until you hit your basic plateau and start copying other people’s work, oh wait! You already are! Aw… What a silly joke you are.

The more I learn the rules about typography, letters and design, the more fun I have breaking these rules. Creating Arabic letters is proving to be the most fun aspect of design to me.
