at the beginning of the year, I stepped into 30.

with my birthday so close to the turn of the year, I always feel the pull of reflection twofold. That space between who I have been and who I want to become, seems very loud.

When I was younger, I imagined 30 so differently. Marriage, a 9-5, perhaps even a house of my own. Instead, my reality looks nothing like that picture. And if I’m honest, I entered this decade feeling a little conflicted. Proud of how far I had come, but apprehensive of what’s still ahead — a lover girly embarking on her own - self love and all that jazz 😅🤭

You may look at these photos and see joy; and you’d be right. But joy is rarely simple. This year has stretched me in ways I never anticipated. Living far from home, without family and a support system, I’ve walked through my fair share of loneliness and doubt. I’ve had days that felt unbearably heavy. And yet, within those moments, I’ve discovered so so so much joy and strength 🥹

So many moments, I am grateful for, even within daily life; but big moments like this, where I get to meet my sister in a foreign country and spend 2 weeks exploring with her, feel extremely special.

Or when i spontaneously decide to go on a solo, group tour to Oman, discovering that a) I can do that?! and b) Oman is incredibly beautiful.

Or when I visit family in Mauritius and spend over a week, reading, being fed amazing delicious homemade food, and honestly just being calm, without an alarm or schedule 🌊

Especially since one of the promises I made to myself was to travel more this year; I made that happen🥹

Mom, Dad and Se; I love you endlessly ❤️ Thank you for giving me all these memories.
