Before Shakespeare wrote them down, words like bedroom, lonely, generous, obscene, and dwindle did not exist in English.

He created new words for his plays and poems by reshaping Latin and French roots, adding prefixes and suffixes, and turning words into new forms.

One writer, one lifetime, and over 1700 words that are still part of everyday English.

A reminder that language is not fixed, it is always evolving.

The English dictionary has over 170,000 words in current use. But English didn’t grow by staying original, it grew by borrowing from everywhere.
French entered through the Norman invasion in 1066, shaping words around law, food, and government. Old Norse gave everyday words like sky, egg, and knife. Latin influenced education and religion for centuries.

As English spread globally, it continued to absorb words like shampoo (Hindi), safari (Swahili), and jungle (Sanskrit).
Unlike many languages that limit foreign influence, English kept everything it picked up.
That is why it has more words than almost any other language, a history written in borrowed voices.

The words we grow up with influence how we describe emotions, make sense of experiences, and even how we frame reality.

Different languages don’t just translate ideas differently, they sometimes help us see them differently.

Left handed people don’t just write differently. They can process language differently too.

In most right handed people, language is handled mainly by the left side of the brain. It is so consistent that neurologists often treat it as the standard pattern.

But for left handed people, it is more varied. About 30 percent process language on the right side of the brain, while another 30 percent use both sides at the same time.

That means for many left handed people, language is literally being processed through different neural pathways. Different connections between sound, meaning, and memory.

Language is not just something we use. It is shaped by how we are wired.

When Scripture entered heart languages, it did more than improve understanding. It made the message personal, shaping faith, identity, and belonging across generations.

AI can process words, but it does not always preserve tone, intent, or doctrinal precision the way trained translators do.

God’s word does not always reveal everything at once, but as you keep reading, keep learning, and keep seeking, clarity begins to come. What once felt confusing starts to make sense, and direction begins to form. Light comes in the unfolding.

Being bilingual is a gift, but translation is more than speaking two languages.

It takes deep understanding of culture, context, tone, and meaning. It is the difference between simply converting words and faithfully carrying a message across to another world.

One can help you order food. The other can carry truth to people’s hearts.
We work with the second kind.

Most languages change so much over centuries that older forms become almost unreadable. English from 500 years ago is already difficult for modern speakers.

But Icelandic is different.

Because of Iceland’s geographic isolation and a strong national effort to protect the language, modern Icelanders can still read medieval sagas from the 13th century with relative ease.

Iceland also actively protects its language today. Instead of borrowing foreign words for new ideas, a language committee creates Icelandic equivalents. For example, “computer” became tölva, a word formed from the ideas of number and prophecy.

Language preservation is not accidental. It is a choice and Iceland shows what is possible when a people decide to protect their language.

Jesus did not promise a trouble-free life. He promised something stronger than trouble.

Trouble will come, but it will not have the final word.

Because He has already overcome.
