It is our sincere pleasure to share with you all that the Employee Engagement Committee selected Mike Dias, Patient and Family Engagement Case Manager, as March’s Values Hero. While March is intended to celebrate our value of innovation, Mike was selected for the ways in which he consistently, abundantly practices all of our core values: innovation, integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, and excellence.
There is no concise way to put into words the value Mike adds to our teams, patients, and families; his reach is expansive and the lives his presence has impacted are too many to count. But here are just some of the things said about Mike by the four people who nominated him:
“From the moment Mike was asked to be involved in assisting patients in finding new programs, he worked tirelessly to place each one. Mike set up meetings with house managers, helped complete paperwork, etc. As Shore Road was in its final stages, Mike pushed through without stopping. I am personally so grateful for having had Mike with me in this process. He has and will continue to be a true asset to Gosnold.” – Kristy Pimental, Director of Quality Management
“Mike Dias has been a valued part of the organization for quite some time. He has shown his dedication and commitment to helping those in recovery in his position at GTC and as a recovery coach. Recently, he showed true collaboration by taking on additional responsibilities outside of his own program to help the organization and his colleagues. He worked with patients after hours and on the weekend to help them find placements, create motivation, and remain in recovery. He was able to see this as an opportunity to teach and reinforce life and recovery skills.” – Jennifer Ferreira, Senior Director of Clinical Services
“Mike has gone above and beyond helping Shore Road transition. He spent many days, nights, and weekends helping patients find new houses and programs. He did it with integrity and professionalism.” – Marjorie Pettingell, Senior Director of Quality, Risk, and Compliance
“Excellence and beyond. He always extends his helping hand. Mike’s most recent task of helping to transition the sober house was met with countless hours of phone calls, personal meetings, housing searches, etc. All in all, this is just a small part of what Mike does day to day.” – Derrick Saffron, Director of Facility and Culinary Services
If you’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Mike, you surely echo these sentiments. I encourage you to stop him in the hallways of GTC or wherever you might find him providing support to a former or active patient or their loved one and thank him for his enduring commitment – not only to the Gosnold mission, but also to our values and the way we believe our work is done best.

Please join us in congratulating Kathleen (Kathy) Hoey, Administrative Assistant in Stoughton, as February’s Values Hero for the “Makes Others Great” Award. This award is another way of celebrating collaboration and excellence by recognizing employees who are team-oriented and support others in doing their best work. Kathy is also among our most consistent employees, as she was nominated five times over the last year for Values Hero, and by a few different people – a clear indication of her commitment to our organizational values.
Here’s a little more about Kathy from her most recent nominator, Jenn Ferreira, Senior Director of Clinical Services:
“Kathy Hoey is an administrative assistant in Stoughton which means she an integral piece to the puzzle that makes the whole picture come alive to help those in need. Kathy seems to approach each day with gratitude and appreciation for the organization and those she connects with. I've witnessed her kindness and patience with a patient who is unsure how to get their point across, as well as her professionalism and respect when things are tough to say. She brings these qualities to her interactions with patients, peers, and colleagues. She is eager to help others and has a knack for bringing people together even for a quick lunch – being sure never to leave anyone out. Kathy also represents the organization with excellence. Recently two probation officers stopped by and had hoped to put a face to the helpful and kind voice on the other end of the phone that was Kathy’s. Our staff and patients speak very highly of her character and her direct manager describes her as "a ray of sunshine when the rain clouds are above". Kathy is well deserving of this month's Values Award!”
Thank you to all of you for living our values in the meaningful ways you do and inspiring us all to do the same!
Happy Social Work Month from all of us at Gosnold! This month we are celebrating the incredible dedication, compassion, and impact of social workers everywhere.

Gosnold awarded its first Values Hero of the year yesterday with great fanfare! Please join our Senior Leadership Team and the Employee Engagement Committee in congratulating Denise Dias, Housekeeper, for the innumerable ways she exemplifies our organizational values: Innovation, Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Denise has been with Gosnold for nearly two years. Here's a little more about how tirelessly she works, often behind the scenes, to ensure our patients and staff are well cared for:
From Derrick Saffron, Director of Facility and Culinary Services: “Denise takes her job seriously. There is no task that is too small for her. She could show up at detox one day and clean the whole building and the next day run over to Emerson because of a call-out. She gives every day 110 percent and makes sure the discharges are tended to immediately. Denise would never ask to be nominated for award, but she is a difference-maker for patients and staff.”
From Dennis Cronin, Assistant Director of Facility and Culinary Services: "Denise exemplifies all of Gosnold's core values. She is never satisfied with mediocre. She shows up and maintains a positive attitude, regardless of what she may be walking into. Denise maintains her focus, multitasking in her job consistently, day in and day out…. She is a very well-rounded employee who positively impacts the business every day through her personal commitment to excellence."
Please take a moment to stop and recognize Denise for her consistent hard work and reflection of the values that make our Gosnold community what it is.
Check out the happy, smiley faces of our 2024 plungers. There is nothing like the feeling of knowing you did something brave and important! This Saturday over 35 people took "the plunge" at Falmouth Heights beach in support of mental health and substance use treatment.
We are so proud of our Gosnold staff, our donors and so many community members who raised much needed funds and took time out of their weekend to help us turn the tide against the stigma that surrounds mental health care. Together, as a community, we are changing perceptions and reaching more people.
