*ZIMUNYA HIGH STUDENTS AFRAID OF FAILING ZIMSEC EXAMS AS TEACHERS TAKE STRIKE ACTION AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT*
A number of O’ and A’ level candidates have spoken out to this publication about their fear of failing in this year’s ZIMSEC exams as their teachers are on strike, demanding better salaries from the government.
Speaking to this publication, one O’ level student at Zimunya High school, who’s name will not be published for personal reasons indicated that things changed on Friday [last week] when teachers were nolonger attending lessons as scheduled in the time tables.
According to reports from students at Zimunya High, teachers are spending most of their time in their baserooms. The reports suggest that teachers have turned into vendors and money changers in schools.
“They’ll be in the baserooms selling maputi, zapnax, and some are calling those with US dollars to go and change to them,” a student said.
There are however some teachers who are asking students to pay 2USD or 3USD per week for them to attend lessons. Those who would’ve paid go on to attend the lesson in the teacher’s base room.
“People are paying 2USD or 3USD to attend extra lessons with the teacher. Those who would’ve paid go on to attend the lessons in the teacher’s base room,” he said.
In a separate interview, another A’ level student from Zimunya High said he regretted registering for ZIMSEC exams this year as chances of passing for him and his fellow stream mates are becoming slim day by day. He says that the teachers are not attending lessons or are not teaching as usual as a result of the ongoing disagreements between them and their employer.
“I even regret registering for this year’s exams because our chances of passing are slim. First it was the pandemic [covid 19] and now it’s the teachers who are striking. We try by every means to study on our own but a teacher is always needed to guide you because at times you may think that you now have what it takes ....

Today we are talking on health and medical side. A throat infection (or sore throat) can make it difficult for you to swallow due to swelling and tenderness. In some cases, tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils) as well as ear and neck pain also develop. Throat infections can be caused by either a virus or bacteria – the first are most common and usually pass on their own; bacterial sore throats are more serious and need medical attention. To ease a sore throat, try taking over-the-counter medication. You can also use natural remedies.
✍ Put one to two teaspoons of sea salt in a glass of warm water. Put the salt water in your mouth and tilt your head back so you can gargle it.Repeat this procedure twice a day.
✍ Mix equal parts of pure honey and fresh lemon juice in a cup. Warm the mixture over the stove in the microwave and drink it to help soothe your throat. You can also add honey and lemon juice to herbal tea and drink it that way.
✍ Boil ½ cup water and stir in 1 teaspoon ground sage and 1 teaspoon ground echinacea. Let the tea steep for 30 minutes, pour it through a strainer, and drink. If you do not like the taste of the tea, you can add honey or lemon to it.
✍ Combine 1 cup boiling water with 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar. Let the tea cool and then drink. You can add honey to the tea if you prefer it sweet.
✍ Look for throat lozenges in the medicine aisle at the grocery store or the drugstore.Take one lozenge and suck on it like a candy until it dissolves in your mouth. Do not swallow it whole. Never take more than two lozenges at a time.
✍ Try over-the-counter sore throat medication.
✍ Take painkillers ( medication) to reduce fever and pain.
✍ Keep your sore throat lubricated by drinking lots of water throughout the day. Prevent dehydration by sipping water. Have at least eight to ten glasses of water a day.You can add slices of lemon, lime, or cucumber to the water to give it some natural flavor
✍ Rest to allow your body to fight the infection. Avoid

*R**e Happens Even Among Friends*
We trust people (friends, family members and community acquaintances) in our lives. The truth is that we are more likely to be s*xually assaulted by someone we know: a friend, a relative, an employer, a date or someone we have recently met, than by a stranger. Acquaintance r**e occurs when someone you know uses physical strength, emotional bargaining, bullying, threats, blackmail, alcohol, drugs or mind games to force you to have s*x.
If you do not consent freely, and someone has s*xual contact with you anyway, it is a crime. There are many different types of acquaintance r**e. Date r**e is one of the most confusing kind. Some men believe that spending money on women creates situations in which their date owes them s*x. Some men also believe that women play hard to get and say "no" but really mean "yes," and that women will be afraid to tell anyone what happened. Because some men believe that s*x is their right, many women are r**ed by the men they are dating.
It is not simply a lack of communication or a result of lack of control. R**e is an act of violence and of power, which is often planned. Sexual assault is NEVER the victim's fault. It is the responsibility of the person who committed the act of violence.

We've started a new week. The importance of warm water in the morning when we wake up can't be understated. Let food be thy medicine and medicine by thy food. If you don't eat your food as medicine then you'll eat your medicine as food. The addition of lemon or garlic or ginger or honey or charcoal or cinnamon in the warm water acts as a great detoxifier as our bodies' immune system is boosted leans towards alkalinity. The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison. Those who think they have no time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness. Let's eat more of grains fruits vegetables seeds nuts drink enough water. Use plant foods as the foundation of your meals for this is the basis of healthy eating. Every diseases has certain plant foods it fears. Substitute sugar with honey. A recipe has no soul. You as the cook, must brink soul to the recipe. Cookery is not chemistry. It is an art. It requires instinct and taste rather than exact measurements. Let's not dig our graves with what's in our plates. The immune system is the major concern. The fortified the immune system the less effective the viruses to overpower it. Eat more of breakfast and lunch and less or no supper at all. No eating in between meals, only drink water. Kitchens must be pharmacies and not graveyards. We are living in a world today where lemonade is made from artificial flavours and furniture polish is made from real lemons. Let us therefore remember this week that simple foods connect with your body's needs in complex ways. Food is fuel: eat to live (don't live to eat)!
