What is a Forensic Audit? A Forensic Audit is an examination of a company’s financial records to derive evidence which can be used in a court of law or legal proceeding. For example, Telemart, on the recommendation of its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), entered into a contract with RJ Inc for the supply of carts. At the time, RJ Inc was not authorized to conduct business, as its license was suspended due to certain irregularities in taxes paid. The CFO had knowledge of this fact, but still recommended that Telemart enter into a contract with RJ Inc because he was secretly receiving compensation from RJ for doing so. A forensic audit can reveal such cases of fraud.

Certified Business Appraiser (CBA) and Master Certified Business Appraiser (MCBA)
In 2008, NACVA acquired the assets of the Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA) and continued to support and promulgate the CBA/MCBA credential to the valuation community, including the ASAs, ABVs, CBVs, as well as NACVA's CVAs. We did so on behalf of a newly established non-profit entity of the same name who licensed the rights to keep the CBA/MCBA active. The new IBA was overseen by a newly established Board of Governors (BOG) and supported by various committees comprised of CBA/MCBA designees.

Become the Master of the Field! The MAFF credential makes the statement that when it comes to financial forensics, you are the “Master” of the field.
Unlike most financial litigation training that tends to be general in scope, MAFF training, continuing education, and related resources provides attendees with an understanding of the professional responsibilities and legal underpinnings necessary to providing credible financial forensics services along with an overview of the highest growth areas of financial forensics practice. The nationally recognized and seasoned financial forensics experts who teach the program also dive into the methodologies and approaches for calculating damages, financial investigative and forensic accounting techniques, skills development for communicating with judges, attorneys, and juries, and practice building strategies that are being employed by successful and emerging financial forensics analysts.

Accredited in Business Appraisal Review™ (ABAR™)*
The ABAR designation is the valuation profession’s most revered credential certifying competence in the review of business appraisal reports. As such, the ABAR credential is specially designed for business valuators whose work involves the review of valuation reports and analysis performed by others—a select group that includes managers, expert witnesses, attorneys, coaches, mentors, trainers, and government appraisers. An important added benefit of the ABAR credential is that preparing for and maintaining the designation helps appraisers significantly improve their own report-writing skills.
A candidate for the ABAR designation must:
Be a Practitioner member of NACVA in good standing;
Possess a four-year college degree or the equivalent;
Hold a professional valuation designation awarded by one or more recognized professional associations, including, but not limited to: AICPA, ASA, CFA Institute, CICBV, IBA, or NACVA;
Successfully complete NACVA’s Accredited in Business Appraisal Review (ABAR) Workshop;
Submit four satisfactory professional references;
Pass a comprehensive, multiple-choice, proctored exam; and
Prepare and successfully complete one business appraisal review report administered on the day following the training.
