Another amazing day in the #operatingroom 👩🏼‍⚕️ the human body is so awesome!

Once upon a time…. Doctors had no idea what cholesterol was. We went about our days eating fatty meat, butter and eggs 🥩🍳 for centuries actually

Then in 1948 the American Heart Association decided that instead of asking doctors for money (membership fees) they would have “corporate partnerships” 💵 well not long after that they had partners pouring in money…. Some of these companies even had fancy new products like cholesterol free butter! Made from vegetable oils 🛢 then big sugar, big grain and all the cheaply processed food companies hopped on the train 🚂

Fast forward to 2021 and all the patients coming into my office are terrified of natural fat sources like #beef 🥩

The idea that cholesterol is the only driver of cardiovascular disease is a fantasy 🧑🏽‍🏫 cholesterol is a chemical that we as humans cannot live with out. Plants even have cholesterol! 🌱 called sterols and stanols.

Lipoproteins carry your Cholesterol around to hungry cells like a little #uber 🚗 cars

LDL is not “bad… HDL is not “good” 😵‍💫 the composition of your LDL and HDL depends a little on genetics and a LOT on what you’ve been eating. Not how much fat but what kind of FAT 🍪 because some fats start fires…. And you better have a good fire department inside to put out these oxygen reactions (free radicals) or the flames keep rolling 💣

Many people have heart attacks with a very Low LDL…. In fact I shared the study awhile back showing almost 2/3 of people who had heart attacks had “ideal” cholesterol numbers 🤨 why are the cardiologists still shoving a plant based diet at us? Should we not be asking more questions? That’s what we should do as scientists? Every single thing we know was learned through trial and error 🚬🩸🧬 somebody… at some point was a guinea pig (I myself have enrolled in studies!)

So what drives heart disease? Oxidized LDL… LDL that’s on fire 🧨 and your body can’t control the flames because you’re eating lighter fluid. What fats oxidize easily? Seed oils… canola, sunflower, safflower… ect 💣 add some sugar and flour in there too for good measure and you’ve created a recipe to burn down the whole damn house over time 🏚

I wonder what if the AHA wasn’t bought? But then I focus on what I’m here to do…. Ask the questions! Because we all deserve a more fit and fabulous agenda than what we’ve been handed ❤️
