I know all of you have already started making a huge list of them reasons and most of them indeed are quite serious ones holding you back from realizing your dreams. I had no idea until recently, after a heart to heart discussion with an old friend, how much people’s backgrounds affect the decisions they make about their future.( I will tell you more about that on another day). Bringing it a bit more closer to home we can come up with a million reasons why we have not achieved our goals and are not living the life of our dreams. Who doesn’t know that we are going through an economic crisis or like most people want to say ‘we have no economy to talk about at all’.
Having listed that and add all those other factors you listed also, we want to talk about the greatest obstacle amongst all of them, and that is YOU. Yes you. I know you had not listed that had you?
How many times have you decided to go for something and before you even started you gave yourself a million reasons why it wouldn’t work. It’s unfortunate how our mindsets always see the bad and not the good out of a picture. Before we even start talking about the environment, we weigh ourselves down by seeing the impossible rather than choosing to see what could be possible in the impossible situation. And guess what? That one possible thing you could do under impossible circumstances is what would be called your breakthrough.
I speak to the entrepreneurs of Zimbabwe, Africa and the world at large today. There isn’t any monster in the dark, it’s you who’ve told yourself that. To conquer the world, to rise through the challenges that face us each and every day, let us rise above the fears and the obstacles we have set within ourselves. That way we can then face any challenge economic, emotional; physical you name it, that will ever come our way.
As for background, it sure has affected the majority. If you were not brought up an achiever or an overcomer surrounded by people who challenge and cheer you on, it’s quite a task coming out of the mentality of defeat where you regarded as a non entity and everyone around you never believed you would amount to anything. So it boils down to the individual either way. It’s a state of the mind and the mind needs to be fed on the right things - possibility, victory and all the positive things you can think of.
Yes YOU are your greatest obstacle. You need to change the way you see things, you need an overcomer’s mentality and need to see that light at the end of the tunnel despite the seemingly insurmountable challenges that life presents before you...
