The Ndafunga Kure #16DaysOfActivism series is OUT!!

Watch available episodes here:

The 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence is an international campaign that commences on 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) and ends on 10 December (Human Rights Day). Originally created by activists, it continues to be coordinated each year by the Centre for Women's Global Leadership.

The United Nations supports this civil society-led campaign through the “United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE to End Violence against Women Campaign (UNiTE)”. The UNiTE campaign utilizes the colour orange to represent a brighter future, free from violence against women and girls, as a unifying theme running through all of its global activities. The Institute for Young Women Development (IYWD), Just Associates, Zimbabwe Coalition of Debt and Development (ZIMCODD) , Southern Africa Parliamentary Support Trust (SAPST) have come together to use visual arts in Commemoration of 16 Days against Gender based Violence.

On Friday 26 November 2021, the consortium will host the premiere of the film production, Ndafunga Kure, a short movie series that uses the lens of everyday community to theatrically stage a view point on the issues that affect women and girls. The premiere will be held at Ster Kinekor Borrowdale and while its strictly by invite due to the covid 19 regulations, the film will be screened on various social media channels.

The film, a star studded production stars Anthony Tongai, Stewart Sakarombe, Stelhah January, Charles Kamara, Felstus Tizora among other new and established acts. Created by Tirivashe Mundondo, the movie was produced by TBGA - LightImages and was directed by the award-winning Zimbabwean filmmaker Melgin Tafirenyika. The film soundtrack was performed by Kelvin VITO Tapi, the Zvachose maestro of the Chamhembe era who is one third of the contemporary band Trinity.

Let us hold on to the wise words of our late Vice President, Dr. Joshua Nkomo. " Of course our history made us who we are, it is up to us to do better."

Ndafunga kure Episode 6

Today’s episode is thought-provoking because a lot of people have been perpetrators. Let us make a conscious effort to stop shaming women for the bodily changes they go through. As we have seen in previous episodes, it is hard enough to be a woman without them being shamed for things beyond their control.

Ndafunga Kure Episode 5

Who is your source of counsel? Are you sure your friends at the pub or that guy in your church cell group is the best person to get advice from? How have things been between you and the women in your life ever since you started taking advice from that person? Are you sure this advice is not tailor-made to feed your ego and not to sustain your relations?

Ndafunga Kure Episode 4

Women should be able to speak out on issues that affect them without the fear of being muzzled or bullied into silence.

Ndafunga kure Episode 3

Some women reason and decide against extracting themselves from the abuse for the sake of the children, “Ndogarira vana vangu/ Ngihlalele abantwabami “. When we step back and look at the picture as a whole, is it truly worth it to raise children in such toxicity? While we call for the protection of our mothers and sisters and friends, let us spare a thought for the girl child who continues to remain exposed and used as currency in some instances.

Enjoy the episode and we hope you have some interesting conversations in your circles.

Ndafunga Kure Episode 2

Quite often women have found themselves in marriages or relationships where they are made to feel stuck with no option to leave. These women are forced into subservient positions at the hands of powerful men in society from religious leaders to various officials in positions of authority. @SAPST @ZIMCODD @YoungWomenInst are organisations that have stood and are pulling men into this conversation from the House of Parliament to the layman on the street. Have a look at their pages and see the work they have done so far.

Enjoy the episode!

Ndafunga Kure Episode 1

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence have started and as promised, we will be airing a new episode daily as the story unfolds.
People have a terrible habit of thinking that if we disagree on lifestyle choices, then the next next person is not deserving of basic human rights or honesty at the very least. Check this episode out and let's have a conversation afterwards.

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender - Based Violence are fast approaching and we are pleased to announce our involvement in the production of Ndafunga Kure. This is a 16 - part series that highlights some of the many issues that women face in their homes, wokplaces and public areas and episodes will be aired every day during the 16 days of activism.

Enjoy the trailer!

Car lovers can recognize Chevrolet's "cross" logo from a mile away, but it actually wasn't their first choice. The original company logo from 1911 was a seemingly handwritten word mark with little flair aside from the cursive and a small point in the underline. The famous cross emblem didn't appear until 3 years later in 1914, and according to legend it came from the cofounder Willian Carpo Durant, inspired by wallpaper he saw in a Paris hotel.
And once they got it, they never let it go. It's rectangles suggest strength and sturdiness, important for automobiles, while the multiple corners make it engaging to look at. And to keep it from looking bland, the common drawback to square shaped logos, they tilt the left-and right-most edges, just to add a little spice.

The logo remained largely the same for the bulk of the twentieth century, with only minor changes to the typography, and in the 70's switching from black and white to blue. But in 2003, Chevrolet made quite an exciting redesign by introducing its silver and gold colour schemes, with a texture effect that makes it look shiny.

Both the luxurious colour choices and the "shiny" texture make the brand seem more elegant and valuable, a strategic and deliberate choice for market positioning.

The Jade Soap advert
For most this advert stood out because of the humour. It cleverly showed why Jade is the perfect fit for your bath.

It's logo evolution time! This one is for all the SAMSUNG lovers out there

For most of the company’s history, the most distinctive element of the Samsung logo was a three star pattern. It reflected the origin of the brand’s name, which means “tri-star” in the Korean language.
In 1938 the original logo was pretty cluttered and bore nothing in common with the current Samsung logo. You could see three stars, three stripes, and wheat plants inside a circle.
In 1969 the stars adopted a more refined and unique shape. The emblem now looked more abstract and less cluttered. Next to it, the lettering “Samsung” in black was placed.
In 1979 the circle and the square, in which the stars had been placed on the previous emblem, disappeared. There were now only the stars and the brand name, which was given in shorter letters.
In 1979 the star design was also used as a standalone emblem. In this case, the symbol was enlarged so that every detail could be clearly seen.
In 1980 the emblem featuring the three stars remained unchanged, while the wordmark was slightly modified. In comparison with the previous one, it looked somewhat bolder and shorter.
In 1993 this is the year when the current Samsung logo was born. You can see the now-familiar bold sans serif letters inside a blue ellipse. What is most important, the iconic “A” without the horizontal bar appears on this version.
In 2005 the design team decided to dismiss the ellipse. Today, both the ellipse logo and the logo without the ellipse are used. One of them is a primary logo, while the other is a secondary one.

Does your brand have a DNA?

When it comes to building a business, there are a ton of terms you’ll hear getting thrown around—”differentiators” and “KPIs” and “brand recognition,". But there’s one term that doesn’t quite get the attention it deserves, and it’s the granddaddy of them all—and that’s CORPORATE DESIGN.

When we say “corporate design,” we’re talking about more than traditional graphic design; it’s a blanket term used to cover both the strategy (your branding) and design (your brand identity) side of your corporate identity. It’s the assets you create (your logo) and the reasoning behind why you design them in a specific way. It’s both who you are to your customer and how you’re going to deliver your message. So, needless to say, it’s kind of a big deal. So why don't you come through, and we help you create a DNA for your brand. One that will standout and one that has a specific reasoning behind it.
