How we so love this story. Edouard Cointreau created the category that we know today as triple sec but because he could not patent it he dropped the ‘triple sec’ and simply called it Cointreau.
So Cointreau left all imitation brands behind to rise and sit above the category it had created.

#FunFactFriday: Cointreau was originally called Cointreau Triple Sec. It was later renamed Cointreau to reposition itself as a product separate from the Triple Sec category.

5 tips on how to dress the perfect table for a Cointreau Fizz inspired dinner party

1. Atmosphere

This is paramount, select your music to fit the feel you are targeting, as this is key to an event being a success!

2. Lighting and candle light

Lighting should be soft, as no one wants to be under bright lights when settling in for a fun and relaxed evening. Lots of candles of various sizes and fairy lights also work well when grouped into styled jars along a table.
Try Fresh and Wild for gorgeous floral arrangements with a difference and Aura Zimbabwe for vases and jars.

3. Glassware and theatre

Glassware should be clear to allow the colour of the drinks or cocktails to shine through, so go for the best you can, making sure you have suitable glassware for the cocktails you are serving. If you are going for a glamorous evening, serve your champagne cocktails in a coupe, which are all the rage. For added theatre, pour your cocktails from exciting serve ware, such as a magnum decanter for added theatre.

4. Canapes

Whether you are going for simple canapes, or a sit down menu, keep the food and alcohol pairing at the centre of your decisions, as there is nothing worse than poorly matched food. If in doubt keep it simple.

5. Scent

Scent is an often overlooked element to a good party for setting the scene. Beautiful quality scented candles are an excellent way to set the mood, so go for citrus scents to keep it fresh. Dusk Home will not disappoint!

This cocktail is slightly stiffer because of the cognac but it's certainly one that's worth giving up the driving seat.

45 ml Rémy Martin VSOP cognac
25 ml Cointreau
25 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
Wet rim with lemon and press into sugar.
Shake vigorously with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Easily the most refreshing summer drink you can have.....Cointreau Fizz Cucumber and Mint

50 ml Cointreau
20 ml freshly squeezed lime juice
3 cm fresh cucumber
A pinch of mint leaves
50 ml soda water
In a cocktail shaker : muddle the cucumber dices with mint leaves, add Cointreau and lime juice. Fill with ice. Shake until the metal tin is frosted. Strain into the glass over ice, and top off with soda water.
Tip: Garnish with cucumber slices

If you're wanting to enjoy some Cointreau but feeling it's a little cold for a cocktail right now, no problem.
Try a Cointreau hot chocolate instead.
Recipe provided below. (😉 You're welcome)

Luxurious Cointreau Hot Chocolate Recipe
Serves 4

Ingredients

For the Hot Chocolate

1 vanilla pod, split with seeds scraped out (use a little vanilla essence or extract if you can't get a pod)
1 cinnamon stick (can't get your hands on a cinnamon stick, try a little cinnamon powder)
1 litre milk (whole milk tastes better but semi-skimmed works too!)
75g good quality dark chocolate, broken into chunks
75g good quality milk chocolate, broken into chunks
25ml Cointreau
Sugar (to taste)

For Decoration

300ml double cream
Orange zest
4 slices of orange
4 Cinnamon sticks

Method

Whip the double cream and orange zest together until thick. Put aside until ready to use.
Heat the milk, vanilla pod and seeds and cinnamon stick in a saucepan until gently boiling (try not to let it boil over and cover the stove, like I did).
Remove the pan from the heat and add the chunks of chocolate, stirring until all the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth.
Add the Cointreau and continue stirring. Taste the mixture, and add another measure of Cointreau if you want more of a kick.
Whisk the mixture vigorously until it becomes frothy and add sugar, to taste.
Pour into mugs and top with the whipped cream. Serve with a slice of orange and a cinnamon stick.
