What an inspiring day at the I AM WOMAN: Becoming Conference! ✨

As Guest of Honor, our Chair, Mrs M, shared the personal experiences that have shaped her journey over the years. Through stories of growth, resilience, and perseverance, she reflected on the moments that challenged her, the lessons she learned along the way, and how those experiences contributed to the woman she has become today.

Her message resonated with many women in the room, serving as a reminder that becoming is a lifelong journey. Every challenge, every setback, and every victory plays a role in shaping who we are and who we are called to be.

We are grateful for opportunities such as these that bring women together to learn from one another, celebrate their journeys, and inspire the next generation of leaders.

How many dreams could be unlocked if every girl had the support she needed to stay in school?

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, Higherlife Foundation joined hands with GirlUp Zimbabwe and Hike & Climb 263 Zimbabwe at Glen View High 1 High School to create a safe space where girls could learn, ask questions, build confidence, and openly discuss issues affecting their wellbeing and education.

Beyond menstrual health education, the day focused on leadership, resilience, self-worth, and reminding every girl that her circumstances do not define her future.

Together, we are working towards a world where every girl has the support, dignity, and opportunity to thrive.

Children thrive when communities thrive.

At the Masana wa Afrika Early Childhood Development Conference, Higherlife Foundation joined organisations from across Africa committed to improving outcomes for children and families.

The discussions explored child safeguarding, disability inclusion, responsive caregiving, trauma-informed care, and the importance of building strong community ecosystems that support children's development.

We are proud that Dr Rejoice Nharaunda contributed to these important conversations, while Lauren Ford, Simba Education's Early Childhood Development Specialist, engaged with practitioners and partners working to strengthen quality early learning across the continent.

One message stood out throughout the conference: lasting change happens when communities are empowered to lead solutions that respond to their realities.

Wrapped in African prints and telling stories that deserve a global audience.

Today, on Africa Day we celebrate And Still We Rise: The Power of Philanthropy a powerful anthology that highlights real stories of transformation, resilience, leadership, and opportunity from across Africa and beyond!

Our African-inspired attire reflects the richness of our culture and heritage, while the book reminds us of the incredible impact that comes from investing in people and communities.

Today, we celebrate a remarkable milestone by one of our own, Dr Tatenda Mashanda, who has made history by earning a PhD from the University of Maryland under UMD Department of Communication

His dissertation, “Between Sovereignty and Solidarity: Rebel Diplomacy and Limits of Internationalism in Zimbabwe's Decolonisation (1976–1979)”, is a powerful contribution to global scholarship, unpacking the complexities of liberation movements, diplomacy, and international relations during one of Africa’s most defining historical moments.

This achievement is more than an academic milestone, it is a reminder that African stories, perspectives, and histories belong on the global stage. Through rigorous research and intellectual leadership, Dr Mashanda is helping shape conversations that matter across continents, generations, and institutions.

At Higherlife Foundation, we are proud to see our alumni breaking barriers, redefining excellence, and carrying Africa’s voice into global spaces of influence and knowledge production.

Congratulations, Dr Tatenda Mashanda. Your journey inspires a generation of young African scholars, leaders, and changemakers to dream beyond borders and pursue excellence that impacts the world.

This past weekend, the world celebrated Mother’s Day, a tribute to the women whose love, resilience, sacrifice, and leadership shape generations.

At Higherlife Foundation, celebrating women has never been limited to a single day, It is reflected in the work we do every day.

Across our scholarships and programs, over 60% of our fellows are women and girls, a deliberate commitment to creating access, opportunity, and transformative futures. When a woman is empowered through education, mentorship, and opportunity, entire communities rise with her.

To every mother, guardian, mentor, sister, and young girl daring to dream:
Thank you for your strength.
Thank you for your courage.
Thank you for shaping the future.

Today and always, we celebrate women not only in words but through action.

A moment from the Leadership Conference, as our Chair, Mrs Tsitsi Masiyiwa, took to the stage.
Leadership is often defined in words. It is also revealed in presence, conviction, and consistency.
