General information
1. THE YOUTH SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH PROGRAMME: appreciates sexual reproductive health as a fundamental right for all, whether young or old, women, men, HIV positive or negative to make choices regarding their own sexuality and reproduction. The program targets in and out of school youths and aims at equipping them with information, knowledge and skills on sexual and reproductive rights.
2. THE HEALTH AND LITERACY PROGRAMME- STRENGTHENING PRIMARY HEALTH CARE RESPONSES: The health literacy programme is the cornerstone of the CWGH’s Health Education programme. We understand Health Literacy as the people’s ability to obtain, interpret and understand basic health information and health services and to use such information and services in ways that promote their health
3. ACCESS TO ESSENTIAL MEDICINES PROGRAMME: The patent rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) have reduced even more access to essential medicines to the poor. The application of these more strict rules has already caused serious problems to Zimbabwe producers of generics. The decision of CWGH to fight the most needed people's health is part of a stop out campaign for the access to essential medicines.
4. STRENGTHENING MECHANISMS FOR COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND FOR PUBLIC AND SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY: The Public and Social Accountability body of work is an initiative by the CWGH in collaboration with the Training and Research Support Centre (TARSC) with support from the Zimbabwe Association of Church Related Hospitals (ZACH). The project aims to strengthening health care communities to implement social accountability monitoring in mission hospitals in Zimbabwe.
5. PARTICIPATORY BUDGET MONITORING AND EXPENDITURE TRACKING IN HIV/AIDS AND TB: Resourcing on HIV/AIDS and TB remains the major challenge to universal access in Zimbabwe. The projects aims to build capacity for civil society organizations in Zimbabwe to improve budget monitoring and expenditure tracking for HIV and AIDS and TB treatment services and to use evidence based research to influence policy makers in government, parliament and local authorities to effectively mobilize and utilize resources.
6. COMMUNITY AND HOME BASED CARE FOR MOTHERS AND NEW BORNS IN ZIMBABWE: CWGH in partnership with UNICEF and the MoHCW have in the year 2010 implemented the Community and Home Based Care for Mothers and Newborns in Zimbabwe Project with the primary aims to reach at least 85% of women, men and young people in Chikomba and Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe with information of care for mothers and newborns. 600 village health workers were mobilized and trained to support good health seeking behaviours for mothers during pregnancy, labour and child birth and immediate post natal period.
