Bio gas and solar is the way to go in terms of set up costs
It's good to serve, nothing should be wasted
We are humbled and grateful to our special guests these last two Fridays for the official net metering address held at the One Stop Solar Borrowdale Store. Isaiah Nyakusendwa of Renewable Energy Association of Zimbabwe - REAZ, our keynote speaker gave the presentation on net metering and our honoured guests from ZETDC, ZESA and Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority - Energy Regulator hosted question and answer sessions.

Feel free to get in touch with us to have a chat about net metering in your home or business. As stated by all the authorities and associations on Friday, it is new for Zimbabwe, but a tried and tested model in many other countries... we're excited and ready to take on the challenge :)

We're starting a contagion of our own... one by one, be the sunshine! Ask in-store and watch this space for our #BeTheSunshine Specials this winter.

for sustainable development

29/11/2021

There are various development milestones that have incurred in the sector. Starting from awareness and adoption of sources like solar energy, biogas, biomass, wind and thermal energy. Energy resources and their utilization intimately relate to sustainable development. In attaining sustainable development, increasing the energy efficiencies of processes utilizing sustainable energy resources plays an important role. The utilization of renewable energy offers a wide range of exceptional benefits. There is also a link between energy and sustainable development. A sustainable energy system may be regarded as a cost-efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly energy system that effectively utilizes local resources and networks.

The processing of is hazardous to the environment, animals and human health, it is never too late to invest in technologies

24/11/2021

Promoting the development and uptake of technologies in Africa is important to abate the use of coal and other non-renewable resources. Independent Power Producers (IPPs) have been successful in driving the electricity sector's transition to renewable energy. However IPPs have faced operational challenges when an agreement is not wholesomely kept. Thus a symbiotic relationship between government and IPPs is vital in the fight against .

Its time to look at as an alternative form of energy that is clean, efficient and sustainable. is generated from natural processes that are continuously replenished; this includes sunlight, geothermal heat, wind, water and various forms of biomass. This energy cannot be exhausted and is constantly renewed.

According to the National Biofuel Policy (2019) Zimbabwe currently has approximately fifty four thousand (54 000) hectares under sugarcane cultivation with expansion plans that will almost double this hectarage by year 2030. This is more than sufficient to meet the approximately thirty five thousand to forty five thousand (35 000 – 45 000) ha that would need to be planted sugarcane to provide sufficient by year 2030 and maintain current levels of sugar production, even if ambitious use targets are set and if yields do not improve. Achieving even a modest target for would require significantly more land, up to one hundred thousand (100 000) ha to be planted with (at current yield levels)"

"Zimbabwe has nearly three million hectares suitable for production in the south-eastern parts of the country in Masvingo and Manicaland provinces. An even larger amount of land is suitable for production, in the northern, eastern and south- eastern parts of the country. All the provinces have parts suitable for curcas production with a third of the country’s land identified as suitable."

People diagnosed with deserves our support and encouragement. There is strength in numbers thus no one deserves to fight alone just as the sector is fighting for increased uptake of , , , , , and technologies to alleviate use of powered electricity for a cleaner/ greener environment.

Zimbabwe in 2019 set out a regulation to regularize the installation, licensing, operation, repair, maintenance, retrofit and upgrade of systems for the production of sanitary hot water in order to save electricity. Section 3 of S.I. 235 of 2019 Electricity (Solar Water Heating) Regulation stipulates that all new buildings built from 2019 should use systems. S.I 235 of 2019 applies to all property developers, architects, engineers and users of electricity and users of hot water. This statutory does not however apply to existing premises with electrical geysers.

Exemptions are only upon application, whereby there are (a) premises with technical limitations; (b) premises supplied with hot water from a cogeneration plant in or proximate to the premises; (c) premises utilizing electricity generated from renewable energy and the excess is used to heat water as a dump load; or (d) such other premises as the Authority may determine. New regulations published in an official gazette said that as of Wednesday the country’s electricity supplier will no longer be allowed to connect power to premises without solar water heaters.

Solar Water Heaters are and a very cost effective way of producing hot water due to the simplicity in design and installation requirements. Using can save up to 40% of a households electricity consumption.
