ABOUT THE JCI ZIMBABWE NATIONAL CONVENTION

Every organization has that event they always look forward to host each year.
Universities and tertiary institutions look forward to the Graduation Day.
Companies look forward to the Annual General Meetings where very important decisions are made.
United Nations has the UNGA in September every year.
In football, it could be the UEFA Champions League Final that millions of football lovers around the world look forward to each year.

The common thing with all these examples is that:
1. That event is held only once a year.
2. It is the biggest event on the calendar for that organization.
3.There is so much anticipation for the event.
4.There is the aspect of recording and celebrating achievement and recognition of that achievement.
5.Very important decisions are made.

For JCI Zimbabwe, such an event is the JCI Zimbabwe National Convention. It happens every year in October. Whilst we have JCI Africa and the Middle East Conference in May and the JCI World Congress in November, which are event bigger events, the one greatest event confined within our boarders is the National Convention.

This is a constitutional meeting, governed by By Law 7.3 of the JCI Zimbabwe Constitution. It is supposed to be held for a period not less than 2 days

Here is what is expected of a National Convention:
1. Presentation of individual reports by the National Board Officers and the Annual Report, including financials, by the National President.
2.Presentation of Local Organization Annual Reports.
3.Elections of National Officers for the succeeding year.
4.Constitutional ammendments
5.Affiliation or disaffiliation of local organizations.
6.A very colourful Gala Dinner (black tie) on the last night of the event.
7.Induction of the incoming National President and acceptance speech.
8.Community outreach programmes.
9.Power talk by renowned speakers.
10.Business networking and entrepreneurship training.
11.Fun, endless fun, lots of it! You will have lots of fun to take you through the next 12 months until another Natcon again in October. (Trust me on this. 😭)

In exactly 2 weeks, JCI Zimbabwe members and international delegates (we are expecting to host a VVIP) will converge in Kariba, at the beautiful Tamarind Lodges to conduct the business of the 54th National Convention.
That's right, 54th. This means we have had National Conventions each year since 1967 when JCI Zimbabwe, then JCI Rhodesia, was affiliated to JCI. That means 53 Presidents have presided over this beautiful event since 1967!!

We have not managed to meet physically for the:
2020 JCI Zimbabwe Recharge
2020 JCI Area Conference
2020 National Convention was a hybrid event.
2021 JCI Area Conference
2021 JCI World Congress will be fully virtual

Yup, so you have one grand opportunity in attending an in-person event and having a level of fun that you could have in weeks all packed up in 3 memorable days.

Are you sure you want to miss it?? 😳😳

It is going to be lit, and im not even talking about the scorching hot Kariba sun in summer. 😂

The Conference Organizing Committee (COC) team is working flat out to ensure a memorable experience at the upcoming National Convention.

If attending this Natcon wasn't part of your plans, im delighted to tell you that there is time. This is definitely an event you want to tell your grandkids about. And they will know that when you were young you had "ka that". 😎

Im going to be taking you through each part of what to expect that i have outlined above in greater detail over the next 2 weeks. So watch the space!

In the meantime, its really time to take that suitcase or traveling bag and dust it up. Because it is finally going to be useful. 😍😍😍😍
