Operating as usual
Hi Everyone,
We are going to meet this Sunday 27th February at St Giles on Drummond Chaplin Road, just around the corner from Wilkins Hospital. We meet at 10 am for a 10.30 am start. Bring your own tea or drink, a plate of eats to share, chair, hat and any plants you wish to donate to the St Giles waterwise Garden project. Chairman Hans Wolbert would like all members to become involved if at all possible and we have already received generous donations of rock, sand, gravel and soil and many plants, but many more will be needed. So come and see what other gardeners have already done and hear what ACSSZ has planned. We have been working closely with Tawny Stidolph, President of the National Association of Garden Clubs of Zimbabwe in coming up with our plan. St Giles as you all know is critical institution that helps youngsters with congenital problems, accident victims, stroke sufferers, victims of war wounds and many others recover and cope with day to day life. The idea is to have an area of garden that is waterwise, a blaze of colour in winter and that is user-friendly for all whether wheelchair bound on crutches or just unsteady. So come and meet at St Giles which is just off Josiah Chinamano Avenue up Drummond Chaplin Road going towards Old Hararians Sports Club. There will also be a technical talk by Manfred Spindler. See you there. Covid protocols apply.

Ideas for Rare Plant Sales.
Hi Everyone, Just in time for tomorrow's big event. A practical demonstration on how to rustle up a simple, effective Valentine's Day table decoration for the big Dinner you are all undoubtedly planning for tomorrow. There is no excuse it took Mike and Neels Scott only half an hour or so to collect the bits and pieces and put this stunning arrangement together recently. And the beauty of succulent ingredients is that not only can you spray paint them for extra effect, but you can also plant them out later either in the garden or in suitable containers. The filler leaves and other decorative bits can go into the compost heap.

Aloe, Cactus and Succulent Society of Zimbabwe We are trying something new for the Society. We took a video at Brian and Barbara Terry's garden in Greystone Park on their spring flower collection. Hopefully this works for you, although not really the sort of p-lants that we keep under our ambit, I am sure all members have an interest in any kind of garden plant life. It is a very large file so be warned and I am not sure how long it takes to download, nor what your options are to reduce the file when you want to view it. We shall all learn as we go along and feedback will be welcome.
