Statistics from the To***co Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) for the past 44 days of marketing shows 138 million kgs of flue cured to***co have been sold against the sales expectation of 200 million kgs for 2018 to***co selling season with farmers earning more than US$400 million.
The seasonal average prices for 2018 show a 2 percent variance of $2.90/kg from the $2.84/kg same time last year.
Players in the industry have acknowledged the latest records as they are expecting more at day 90.
Farmers at Premier To***co auction floors which according to TIMB data have performed very well welcomed the prices being paid for the flue cured to***co which they say is encouraging.
Zimbabwe is the largest to***co producer in Africa and third exporter in the world.
In the country, to***co is among the top three foreign currency earners.
