Alaso Academy and UN Sustainable Development Goals – Alaso Academy
United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted in 2015, Alaso Academy ran a scoping exercise to explore how closely its research mapped onto them. The degree to which the SDGs spoke to Alaso Academy’s priorities and strengths in research was startling, but not entirely surprising.

It is crucial for every community to have at least an appreciation of other people's cultures. Churches have a crucial role to play in our communities and one way of achieving their goal is to endevour to be inclusive. As a way of attaining this, we had a day-long Sign language and Disability awareness programme discussing issues that affect PWDs from a biblical perspective.
All of us have a role to play. We are ready to partner with anyone and everyone in order to achieve this goal.

23 September is celebrated world wide as the International Day of Sign languages. This day has been celebrated since 2018.
On this International Day of Sign Languages, we celebrate, recognize and promote the different national sign languages around the world. Together we sign onto a declaration of support for sign languages as an essential human right for deaf people, and sign for human rights!
Zimbabwe, through her Constitution ammendment (No 20) act of 2013, acknowledges that the nation has 16 officially recognised languages and Sign language is one of these languages. As ALASO Academy, we join Zimbabwe and the rest of the world in celebrating this great day.
We shall continue working tirelessly for the growth, development, inclusion and promotion of Sign language in every sector.
As the theme suggests
let "SIGN LANGUAGES UNITE US"

September is Deaf awareness month and 19-24 September is International week for the Deaf. The entire Deaf community around the world this week is celebrating issues to do with Deafness and issues to do with the Deaf culture as well as alerting the world of these. We all have a role to play. Lets take part.

As we continue to raise Deaf awareness, Language plays a pivotal role in almost every facet of life. One of the most tactical ways of winning someone over is through learning their language. When we learn Sign language as a community, we definitely win the hearts of Sign Language users. As Alaso Academy, we are here to help you achieve this goal. Together we have a role to play.
