This festive season, look to those less fortunate than yourself and see how you can help bring some festive cheer to their lives.

During the festive season, healthcare workers can be inundated. We understand their struggles and appreciate the service that they put in during these times! Let’s do our part by being as safe as possible and not taking unnecessary risks during this time.

Avocados are high in fat with 60% of this being monounsaturated fats, which research suggests helps to protect against heart disease and lower blood pressure. They are also an excellent source of potassium, folate and fibre, all of which benefit the heart and cardiovascular system.

Throughout the African continent, in the markets we serve, one thing has held true… true health maintenance needs a human-centred approach; something we engender in all our service offerings.

“No Shave November” also known as Movember, has been associated with raising awareness for men’s health issues. With a particular emphasis in November, is the tie-in with Prostate Cancer Awareness, which affect many men globally each year. Let’s all raise awareness for male health issues this month of November... You may also choose not to shave… why not!

Packed with vitamins, fiber, and particularly high levels of antioxidants known as polyphenols, strawberries are a sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie food. They are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity and are a good source of manganese and potassium.
All you need for a great smoothie are Strawberries, Bananas, Yoghurt, Milk and Honey…. Oh… and a blender of course!

Most skin cancers are caused by too much exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun. During the summer heat, make sure to do the following:
1. Cover up
2. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (regardless of your skin-tone)
3. Seek shade
4. Hydrate

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities with family and friends. Go for a hike, ride your bikes, play tag, and have fun! Just remember it’s the perfect time to stay healthy and stay active.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want everyone to take time to understand this form of cancer that recorded more than 2.26mln new cases in 2020.
For premenopausal women, there is also strong evidence that the following INCREASES the risk of premenopausal breast cancer:

Moving towards Quality and Excellence. Our team is working hard to provide and outcomes. Stay Tuned!

Many of us struggle to stay motivated when we workout and it’s always nice to have someone to talk to and to ”spot” you. So, whatever your summer workout routine is, why not get a workout partner to help challenge and support your fitness goals.
What is Breast Cancer?
The term “breast cancer” refers to a malignant tumor that has developed from cells in the breast. Breast cancer usually begins in the cells of the lobules, which are the milk-producing glands, or the ducts, the passages that drain milk from the lobules to the ni**le. Less commonly, breast cancer can begin in the stromal tissues, which include the fatty and fibrous connective tissues of the breast.

According to the World Health Organization, “The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.”
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. When the demands placed on a person exceed their resources and coping abilities, their mental health could be impacted. (Source: CDC)

Throughout our health maintenance network and across the continent of Africa, we are ensuring a seamless customer experience throughout the healthcare value chain.

At HMNA, we provide Operational Excellence in Clinical Diagnostic Solutions through our wide network of providers who use state-of-the-art equipment to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses.

With Summer upon us, shedding the winter weight may be high on your agenda. Let’s commit to healthy living this summer season for better long-term results for our well-being.

At HMNA, our commitment is to provide integrated healthcare services and coordinated clinical care solutions designed to enhance access to quality specialist and diagnostic care, and improve your health and wellbeing.

Flossing gets rid of plaque, reduces the risk of cavities, helps prevent gum disease, reduces bad breath, and may even help your heart health. It is therefore recommended that you brush your teeth twice a day and floss at least once a day.

Whilst darker skin tones do provide some natural protection against the sun’s UV rays, this is not complete protection. As we enter the summer season, you need to take precautions from the sun’s rays, regardless of your complexion.

Bowel health is extremely important to your own personal wellbeing. A high fibre diet may lower your risk of developing haemorrhoids and diverticular disease.

Ensuring the best medical outcomes for your health lies at the heart of what we provide. From Enterprise Risk Management Solutions to pharmaceutical and theatre services, your healthcare needs are catered for.

Essential Fats cannot naturally be made by the human body. These are found in fish, vegetable oils, nuts (especially walnuts), flax seeds, flaxseed oil, and leafy vegetables. However, sometimes, you may need to take supplements in order to get these much-needed fats into your system.

Regardless of who you are and your circumstances, we are committed to providing solutions for your health that range from individual solutions to company-wide interventions. Contact us for more information on how we can make a difference.

Whether you have an acute or a chronic condition, access to prescription medication should be well within your reach. That is why within our network, we help to connect you with the pharmaceutical care you need.

Working out at home can be just as effective as going to the gym. What is important is that you dedicate the right amount of time and find a suitable space for your workouts, to ensure that you get the most from your efforts.
As we celebrate our Heroes and Defence Forces, we hope that you will take this opportunity to recharge your engines…. We know we will. See you on Wednesday.

Through our wide healthcare network, we are striving to make access to medication more affordable and available for all in need.
We are here to help your organisation operationalise enterprise health risk management in order to make access to healthcare easier, better, faster!

Did you know that a normal resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute. Generally, a lower heart rate at rest implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness. What’s your heart rate?

It has been shown that dietary fiber from vegetables, as part of an overall healthy diet, helps reduce blood cholesterol levels and may lower risk of heart disease. Small interventions in your health can have tremendous implications on your overall wellness.

Through our commitment to creating a robust, pan-African health network, we ensure that you are within reach of a variety of healthcare professionals to get the best service at the right price.
