HAPPY INDEPENDENCE my nation and my pride. We have survived a painful past, our growing pains have given us resilience in an imperfect present that is being altered as we speak. By God we have a chance to dream again though we might not be where we want to be YET.
Independence means one thing most important, we have an honest chance to get to the place of prosperity; and everyday we all play a part in laying the brick work to get there. Before us today is a story of the past & the responsibility of today challenged by the opportunity for tomorrow and above all we honour those who worked tirelessly to get this independence. Happy 41st Zimbabwe!

The Africa Women Leaders Network (AWLN), Zimbabwean Chapter is launching this afternoon on the sidelines of the 6th African Regional Forum on SDGs. Running under the theme, ' Peace and social cohesion for sustaining Zimbabwe's development',the movement seeks to galvanise on the AU position, which has declared 2020-2030 'a decade of women's financial and economic inclusion'. President Mnangagwa is guest of honor.

In line with Vision 2030, Zimbabwe’s ministerial portfolios encompassed all the 17 SDGs, with the Office of the President and Cabinet coordinating. Devolution policy which invasions provincial economies would take Zimbabwe nearer realization of SDGs. The President expressed concern that illegal sanctions by the West stood in the way of speedy realization of SDGs and Agenda 2063 of the African Union. Zimbabwe continues along the path of reforms, including IMF-supervised Staff Monitored Programme on the economy.Zimbabwe could do more with support from IFIs which, owing to illegal Western sanctions, have shunned Zimbabwe, forcing it to go it alone on development. Government would continue to support Agriculture to meet food requirements and to offset climate change. The President lamented the funding gap on SDGs, urging the international community to continue to support needy countries and communities. Zimbabwe continues to support Science and Technology, added the President, appreciating the articulate Nkosilathi Nyathi who represented Zimbabwe at the 6th session.

His Excellency the President is in Victoria Falls where he is set to address the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development tomorrow morning. All the 54 African countries are represented at the Forum, with delegates surpassing the 3 000 mark. Zimbabwe takes from Morocco which chaired the 5th Forum of the UN Forum. Upon arrival, the President received an internal brief from his ministerial staff led by Minister Mavhima (Prof) who is the sector host. The hosting of the Forum by Zimbabwe takes the country’s engagement and re-engagement policy a notch higher, with the country riding on UN machinery and global focus to make its case to the world.Over the weekend, the country played host to the UN Deputy Secretary General, Madame Amina Mohammed, who had a chance to sample Zimbabwe’s prime eco-tourism products, principally Hwange and the Mighty Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls received overnight downpours, with a steady ...drizzle continuing into the evening. The Zambezi River Authority reports a meter-high gain in Zambezi waters, a development which bodes well for hydro-power generation after a searing drought. The tourism sector took advantage of the high-profile visit to reassert the undiminished might of the River and its nonpareil Falls, themselves a wonder of the World.
