Last weekend, Pope Francis celebrated the opening Mass of the Synod on Synodality. What are your thoughts on the synod? What direction should the Church take with regards to participation, dialogue, listening and discernment? How can we, as a community, participate in the synodal process?

Pope Francis on Twitter “Participating in a means taking the same path as the Word made flesh: following in his footsteps, listening to his word and the words of others, discovering with amazement that the Holy Spirit always surprises us with fresh paths and new ways of speaking.”
One of the four Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus is to care for our common home; earth. Rev. Fr. Stephen Buckland, SJ shares with us a one minute reflection about caring for our mother earth.
In the Spiritual Exercises, St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556) emphasizes freedom through awareness. One powerful tool that he proposes as an aide to achieve this is the Examen. A process of tracing one's past thoughts, words, and actions, from the time of rising to the time of the examination, so as to be aware of the places where we encountered God and were faithful to him and where we met him and were not faithful to him. For the former, to ask grace to continue doing good, and for the latter to make amends. The Arrupe Jesuit Community at Arrupe Jesuit University has maintained this rich tradition. Every day from 1:00 PM to 1:15 PM, we gather as a community, around the chapel of the Holy Name to examine our consciences and become more aware of our weaknesses and strengths. The joys of doing this as a community are that first, we recognize the need to be forgiven and God's desire to forgive us. Second, we are united in heart and mind for the greater glory of God.

The Curtain Comes Down in Style
Jesuit scholastic who are in their final year at Arrupe Jesuit University have concluded their 9-day pre-regency workshop which is meant to prepare them for the new mission ahead.
Regency is a time of work-related engagement mostly done by Jesuits in formation after finishing their philosophical studies.
During the workshop, they were taken through aspects of governance, essence of regency, liturgy etc. The workshop concluded with a visit to Binga and Victoria Falls.
We pray for our brothers that they may love and serve as taught them in the past three or four years at Arrupe.
Arrupe Jesuit Community begins Social Analysis Workshop which will run from today, Monday until Friday.
Bishop Emeritus of Chinhoyi Dieter Scholz SJ, who was appointed by Fr Pedro Arrupe as the first International Director of Jesuit Refugees Service in the late 70s, opens the workshop by giving an insight on the spirit that led to the formation of JRS and the initial experiences.
The workshop is being attended by first, second and third year scholastics.
