The ear naturally secretes wax with special chemicals that fight off infections that could hurt the skin inside the ear canal, moisturise & prevent dry, itchy ears, keep debris out as well as hinder bacterial growth.

When ear wax accumulates, it may harden causing a blockage in the ears that impedes proper hearing. If left unchecked it can cause ear pain & infections. If you notice any of these immediately see an otolaryngologists who will remove excess earwax, cerumen & foreign bodies from the ear.

Alternatively, a physician may prescribe recommended medical ear drops, mineral oil, glycerine, hydrogen peroxide or natural home remedies that are designed to soften the wax. Ear canals must be dried after cleaning.

Today, 19 August 2022 is World Humanitarian Day (WHD).

There is a saying that goes: It takes a village to raise a child. Similarly, around the world, every hour of every day, of to support a person in a humanitarian crisis.

With record-high humanitarian needs around the world, this year’s World Humanitarian Day builds on this metaphor of collective endeavour to grow global appreciation of humanitarian work

Whenever and wherever people are in need, there are others who help them. They are the affected people themselves – always first to respond when disaster strikes – and a global community that supports them as they recover. Far from the spotlight and out of the headlines, they come together to ease suffering and bring hope.

The 2022 WHD campaign shines a light on the thousands of volunteers, professionals and crisis-affected people who deliver urgent health care, shelter, food, protection, water and much more.

For this year’s WHD, lets tell the stories of people in need and those who help them. Lets showcase the often invisible but always indispensable importance, effectiveness and positive impacts of humanitarian work.

Background
On 19 August 2003, a bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killed 22 humanitarian aid workers, including the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello. Five years later, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution designating 19 August as World Humanitarian Day.

Each year, WHD focuses on a theme, bringing together partners from across the humanitarian system to advocate for the survival, well-being and dignity of people affected by crises and for the safety and security of aid workers.

WHD is a campaign by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)

It is recommended that individuals get regular health checkups at least once a year for a general routine physical check up. If one has an ongoing health issue or chronic disease, one should see a medical doctor more often.

Medical doctors are importance as they perform the following roles in our society :- saving & improving lives, reducing risks of complications by detecting, closely monitoring potentially life-threatening health conditions or diseases early as well as controlling pandemics & epidemics.

Unfortunately, not every illness can be cured completely.
