πŸƒπŸΎβ€β™‚οΈπŸŽ‰ A Proud Moment for Ward 14 and Chegutu RDC! πŸŽ‰πŸƒπŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ

We are beyond proud to celebrate our very own Councillor Charles Mugwagwa of Ward 14, Chairperson of Social Services at Chegutu Rural District Council, who took on the challenge of the Econet Victoria Falls Marathon β€” and delivered an outstanding performance! πŸ’ͺ🏾πŸ”₯

Tackling the gruelling 42 km full marathon, Councillor Mugwagwa finished:

πŸ₯‡ 19th out of 146 participants in his category πŸ… 55th out of 508 runners overall

In his own words:

"These results show that I was number 19 out of 146 participants in my category, while overall I was number 55 out of 508 runners who did 42 km. These results are good and earned me both Comrades Marathon and Two Oceans qualifiers with very good seeding."

This remarkable achievement has officially earned him qualification for two of the world's most prestigious ultra-marathons β€” the legendary Comrades Marathon πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ and the iconic Two Oceans Marathon 🌊 β€” both with excellent seeding! 🌟

Councillor Mugwagwa continues to inspire the people of Ward 14 and the entire Chegutu community β€” proving that leadership goes beyond the Council chambers. It's about discipline, endurance, resilience, and leading by example. πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

Please join us in congratulating Councillor Mugwagwa on this incredible milestone. Chegutu RDC salutes you! πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‡ΏπŸ‡Ό

πŸŒπŸ’§ Chegutu RDC Launches District WASH Master Plan (2026–2030) πŸ’§πŸŒ

A Bold Step Toward Sustainable Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Service Delivery

Chegutu Rural District Council (CRDC) yesterday, Thursday, 02 July 2026, officially launched its District WASH Master Plan (2026–2030) at a landmark ceremony held at the Council's Head Offices just before the Full Council meeting. The launch marks a defining moment in the District's journey toward inclusive, resilient, and sustainable WASH service delivery for every ward and community.

The Master Plan β€” developed through an intensive, evidence-based process that began in 2024 β€” is the product of strong collaboration between Council, development partners, government line ministries, traditional leaders, civil society, and community representatives. Special recognition goes to Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and other partners whose technical and financial support made the development of this Plan possible.

πŸ”‘ What the Plan Delivers Over the next five years, the WASH Master Plan will guide Chegutu RDC to: βœ… Expand equitable access to safe drinking water across all wards βœ… Strengthen sanitation and hygiene services in households, schools & health facilities βœ… Promote climate-resilient WASH infrastructure βœ… Improve operations, maintenance & management of WASH systems βœ… Enhance coordination, accountability, and community participation βœ… Mobilise resources and attract sustainable investment into the sector

🀝 A Shared Vision, A Shared Responsibility Speaking at the launch, Council leadership emphasised that the Plan is "a living framework β€” a single source of truth" that aligns all stakeholders behind one district vision. It shifts the district from fragmented, project-based interventions to a coordinated, results-driven, and community-centred approach to WASH.

Development partners reaffirmed their commitment to walking the journey with CRDC, noting that the Plan positions Chegutu as a model district for locally-led WASH planning in Zimbabwe.

πŸ“’ A Call to Action Chegutu RDC extends its sincere appreciation to WHH, cooperating partners, government ministries, traditional leaders, community members, and all stakeholders who contributed to shaping this Plan. Delivering it, however, will require all of us.

Together, let us build a Chegutu where every household, every school, and every clinic enjoys safe water, dignified sanitation, and healthy hygiene practices β€” every day.

πŸ’§ Water is life. Sanitation is dignity. Hygiene is health. πŸ’§
