Chegutu Makes History with the Inaugural Mayor and Chairperson Run

Chegutu Rural District Council is proud to have sponsored, organised and participated in the inaugural Chegutu Mayor and Chairperson Run—the first event of its kind to be held in the District.

The event was held in collaboration with our sister local authority, the Municipality of Chegutu, Eve’s Wellness Event Management and Chegutu Runners Club bringing together residents, athletes, community members and stakeholders in a celebration of health, wellness, unity and community participation.

Participants competed in three race categories:

5 km race
10 km race
21 km race

Chegutu Rural District Council also hosted one of the event’s five water points, helping to ensure that runners remained hydrated and supported throughout the races.

The success of the event was made possible through the valuable support and participation of various stakeholders, including Ganzim, Castle Lite, Zimplats, Medihub Clinic, Kuhn Medics, as well as runners’ clubs from Chinhoyi, Kwekwe, Norton and Kadoma

We are also proud to celebrate the achievement of our Social Services Committee Chairperson, Councillor Charles Mugwagwa, who secured an impressive fourth position in the 21 km race.

The Chegutu Mayor and Chairperson Run was more than a sporting event—it was a powerful demonstration of collaboration between local authorities, the private sector, health partners, sporting communities and residents. It promoted healthy lifestyles while strengthening community spirit and putting Chegutu on the map as a destination for wellness and sporting events.

Chegutu Rural District Council extends its sincere appreciation to all participants, partners, volunteers, organisers and supporters who contributed to making this historic event a success.

Together, we run for health, unity and a stronger Chegutu community.
