Sdelo Mikhail Ceza is a small-scale livestock farmer driven by an unwavering sense of duty to his ancestors, his family, and his land, Glendower Farm near Peddie in the Eastern Cape.
But his story is not just about the past; it is also about building a future in a sector in which producers like himself often struggle to prosper. Cattle farming is a time-honoured tradition in South Africa, and for many small-scale farmers like Ceza, it represents not just a source of income but a cultural inheritance, too.

By all means start with what you have, the human resource, material resources and anything that is workable within your reach start. Do not despise your humble beginnings, haven't you heard from God's word , "The latter shall be greater than the former". This life has taught me a lot lessons and it continues to do so. Life is a university and for you to make it you need to embrace diversity. Learn new ideas, try them out, don't sit down folding your arms expecting things to work out for themselves. Life is no magic πͺ. Above all invite God to help you actualize your vision after you have written it down.

Goat Farming Systems
Goat farming systems vary based on factors like land availability, climate, and production goals. Let's explore the main systems.
Intensive Goat Farming
Intensive goat farming involves keeping goats in a controlled environment, such as barns or pens, with high stocking density. This system focuses on maximizing productivity and efficiency through optimized feed and management practices. It requires significant investment in infrastructure and labor, but provides better disease control and easier management.
Extensive Goat Farming
Extensive goat farming involves grazing goats on large areas of land with minimal infrastructure. This system relies on natural resources, promoting biodiversity and reducing costs. However, productivity and disease control can be challenging due to the vast grazing areas.
Semi-Intensive Goat Farming
Semi-intensive goat farming strikes a balance between intensive and extensive systems. It combines controlled environments with natural grazing, offering flexibility in management. This system suits small-scale farmers seeking a compromise between productivity and natural resources.
Organic Goat Farming
Organic goat farming emphasizes natural and sustainable practices, avoiding synthetic inputs and promoting animal welfare. This approach focuses on environmental conservation, biodiversity, and human health.
Free-Range Goat Farming
Free-range goat farming prioritizes animal welfare, allowing goats to roam freely and exhibit natural behavior. This system promotes stress-free environments, improving overall health and productivity.
Nomadic Goat Farming
Nomadic goat farming involves seasonal migration to different grazing areas, typically practiced by pastoral communities. This traditional approach adapts to changing environmental conditions, ensuring sustainable resource utilization.
Transhumant Goat Farming
Transhumant goat farming involves seasonal migration between fixed grazing areas. This system allows farm
