KABWE BABY DIES AFTER MOTHER UNEXPECTEDLY GIVES BIRTH IN THE PIT LATRINE.

A newborn baby has died in Kabwe's Makululu Compound after the mother unexpectedly gave birth while using a pit latrine early this morning.

‎The Kabwe Fire Brigade, led by Leading Firefighter Hikabanze Print, rushed to House Number I 95 on Road 9 at around 01:40 hours following an emergency call.
‎
Upon arrival, firefighters retrieved the baby from the pit latrine and rushed it to Kabwe Central Hospital, where it was pronounced dead on arrival.

‎It is reported that the 20-year-old mother, Evelyn Nampundu, had gone to the pit latrine to relieve herself when she unexpectedly went into labour and delivered the baby, which unfortunately fell into the latrine during the incident.

‎Police officers from Zambia Police Service and residents of Makululu Compound were present at the scene.
‎
‎Meanwhile, the Kabwe Fire Brigade has advised expectant mothers, especially those six months pregnant and above, to avoid using pit latrines to prevent such tragic incidents.
