ALEX AND ABILY MISS OUT ON THE DERBY
Today, Yotam Muleya Arena hosts a mouthwatering Week 4 fixture of the Zambia National League as Red Arrows face Nkwazi in a Lusaka derby set for 14:00hrs.
Both sides will be without some of their most influential players, with Arrows missing their electrifying speedster Alex Mwewa, while Nkwazi will have to cope without the versatile and intelligent Abily Mukwato in the backs.
The two teams already met earlier in the Knockout Cup qualifiers in a tightly contested encounter that saw Arrows edge Nkwazi 15-13 in a game decided by the finest of margins.
Having each played just one league match so far, both registering bonus-point victories, this clash promises to be fiercely competitive.
Nkwazi are looking to mount a serious title challenge this season, while Arrows are determined to reclaim the championship they surrendered last year, when the crown found its way to the Leopards Cage.

NATIONAL LEAGUE RETURNS THIS SATURDAY
The Zambia Rugby Union National League rolls into another thrilling weekend on 16th May 2026, with four mouthwatering fixtures lined up across the country. Pride, points, and momentum are all on the line as clubs continue their push for supremacy in what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested campaign.
In Kabwe, Eagles will have a huge task on their hands as they welcome the dangerous Mufulira Leopards. The visitors have shown grit and physical dominance in recent outings, while Eagles will be desperate to defend home turf and bounce back strongly in front of their supporters. Expect a bruising contest packed with intensity from the first whistle.
KPF 'Spoilers' lock horns with Diggers in another clash that promises fireworks. Both sides know the importance of staying within touching distance of the league frontrunners, making this encounter a potential turning point early in the season. Discipline and forward dominance could prove decisive in this battle.
Green Buffaloes face Kansanshi Dragons in a fixture carrying plenty of intrigue. Buffaloes will look to make home advantage count, but the Dragons continue to prove they are no pushovers and will arrive determined to upset one of the league’s traditional powerhouses. This one could produce some entertaining attacking rugby.
Meanwhile, all eyes will be on Nkwezi as they prepare to host the Air Wolves, Red Arrows. Arrows come into the match full of confidence after recent impressive performances, but Nkwezi will be eager to clip the wings of the visitors and make a statement of their own before home fans.
With rivalries heating up and every point becoming crucial, fans can expect another weekend filled with passion, crunching tackles and top-class rugby action.

THE CAGE STANDS STRONG AS ARROWS SOAR IN KABWE
The champions showed exactly why they wear the crown, defending the Leopards Cage in style after overturning a half-time deficit to beat Green Buffaloes 31-23. A hard-fought comeback, a bonus point secured, and another successful afternoon of hunting at their paddock.
In Kabwe, Red Arrows were simply unstoppable. The former champions put on a ruthless display, dismantling Green Eagles 36-9 in a one-sided contest that left no room for doubt.
Nkwazi sent a strong message to newcomers KPF, reminding them what life in the big boys’ league looks like with a dominant 44-6 victory.
Meanwhile, the Men at Work, Diggers, did not have it easy at home against the Richard Kanyika-tutored Mabanga Boys. It was a tightly contested affair that ended 22-20 in favour of the home side. Tough luck to Kansanshi, who still put in a solid shift on the road.
Another thrilling round, more statements made, and the league continues to deliver.

TEAM NEWS 🐆
Mufulira Leopards will this afternoon defend the Cage as they welcome Green Buffaloes in what promises to be a thrilling showdown.
The defending champions, however, will have to do it without three key figures:
• Dimus “Tupou” Kabengele
• Perry “Kazole” Mwape
• Bwalya Chilufya “The Georgian Centre”
Tupou and Kazole miss out through injury, while The Georgian Centre is unavailable due to illness.
Despite the setback, the Leopards camp remains optimistic, with the trio expected back in Week Four for the Kabwe trip.

RODGERS AT THE DOUBLE AS PERRY GOES 4/4 AGAINST GREEN EAGLES
Full Time
Mufulira Leopards 28–8 Green Eagles
The Leopard’s Cage erupted on Saturday, 27th September 2025, as Mufulira Leopards humbled Green Eagles to tighten their grip on the league title race and edge closer to ending a 30-year championship drought.
The visitors struck first with a penalty to lead 3–0, but that only fired up the home side. Zambia’s powerhouse No. 8 Rodgers Mukupa bulldozed through the defense for the opening try, with fullback Perry Mwape calmly converting.
The momentum stayed with the Leopards. Before halftime, Namibian Premier League champion and Kudus Rugby Club loanee Mphatso Mwashi muscled over for the second try. Perry remained flawless from the tee, making it 2/2 and sending Leopards into the break 14–3 up.
After the restart, the Leopards turned the screw. Mukupa powered over again to complete his brace, with Perry extending his perfect kicking run. The bonus point was sealed by in-form ho**er Dimus Kabengele, fresh from his maiden national team call-up. Perry wrapped up a spotless day from the boot with a 4/4 record at the fortress Leopard’s Cage.
Green Eagles managed a late consolation with an unconverted try in the dying minutes, but it wasn’t enough to spoil Leopards’ party, as the final score read 28–8.
Elsewhere, defending champions Red Arrows were held 12–12 by Green Buffaloes, a result that pushes Leopards two points clear at the top of the table.
With just Buffaloes and Arrows left to play, the Leopards’ destiny is firmly in their hands. Two more wins would not only crown them champions but also end three decades of waiting, ushering in a new era of glory.

COPPER EAGLES COMPLETE A DOUBLE OVER VULTURES
The Copper Eagles came to play in the second test match in Gaborone, and under the guidance of Professor Lawrence Njovu, they once again proved too strong for the hosts, the Botswana Vultures.
It was a tightly contested battle from start to finish, picking up right where the first test left off. The intensity never dropped, with both sides going toe-to-toe in a physical encounter. But it was Zambia who showed greater grit, composure, and intention when it mattered most.
Backed by clinical ex*****on and relentless defense, the Eagles controlled key moments and turned pressure into points, frustrating the home side and silencing the crowd. The victory seals a clean sweep in Gaborone, underlining Zambia’s dominance and sending a clear message ahead of future international assignments.

COPPER EAGLES SOAR TO VICTORY IN GABORONE IN THE FIRST TEST MATCH
The Copper Eagles delivered a dominant second-half display to crush the Vultures 26–7, overturning a narrow 7–5 halftime deficit into a commanding win.
Botswana may have edged the early exchanges, but whatever Professor Lawrence Njovu said in the dressing room sparked a complete turnaround. The Eagles came out with fire, intensity, and ruthless precision, leaving the hosts with no answer.
Prop Lawrence Lesa bulldozed his way to a brilliant brace of tries, while inside centre Elisha Bwalya also touched down. The evergreen Nigel Chibwe, the oldest player in the squad, showed class and grit as he added a try of his own, proving that experience still wins the big matches. Fly-half Terry Kaushiku was steady with the boot, slotting home three conversions to seal the win.
From trailing by two to soaring by nineteen, the Copper Eagles showed that when they find their rhythm, they are simply unstoppable. A powerful statement away from home, Zambia proved tonight that the Eagles don’t just rise, they dominate.
The stage is now set for the second test match this Sunday, 21st September 2025, right here in Gaborone.
