GOVERNMENT OF ZAMBIA CALLS FOR FORMALISATION OF MODELLING SECTOR

Government has called for the formalisation of Zambia’s modelling sector to protect young talent from exploitation, unlock funding opportunities and transform pageantry into a viable career.
Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe said the industry should establish a recognised association to represent models and engage Government in a structured manner.
He said formalisation would make it easier for Government to support Zambian models participating in international competitions, including assistance with travel, similar to the support given to national sports teams.
Mr Chileshe also proposed partnerships to introduce modelling and creative-industry training in schools.
