Yesterday, we laid to rest the Archbishop Emeritus, Telesphore George Mpundu, the former Archbishop of Lusaka, a humble and faithful servant of God whose life was dedicated to the Gospel, justice, and service to humanity.
During the funeral Mass, Archbishop Alick Banda of Lusaka Archdiocese described him as a compassionate shepherd who remained faithful until the very end, always speaking for the poor, defending justice, and standing firm against injustice and abuse of power.
His life remains a powerful example of humility, wisdom, courage, and selfless service. May his legacy continue to inspire us to serve faithfully and place others before ourselves.
Archbishop Emeritus, Telesphore George Mpundu, died on 15th May 2026 at Maina Soko Hospital and was laid to rest on 21st May 2026 which was supposed to be his 79th Birthday.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
