Screenshots, backups, forwarded messages, cloud archives, and hidden servers keep copies long after you hit delete.

What feels “private” today can become public, permanent, and powerful tomorrow.

Security Awareness: ACCESS vs. AUTHORIZATION

Just like arrest is not the same as detention, in cybersecurity access is not the same as authorization and this mistake is costing people their data, privacy, and sometimes even their money.

👉 Access means you can reach or enter a system (e.g., logging into Wi-Fi, opening a website, plugging into a network).

👉 Authorization means you are legally or formally allowed to use specific resources once inside (e.g., reading confidential files, executing admin commands, transferring funds).

WHERE IT GETS DANGEROUS

Some users are: Clicking links “just to check”

=> Sharing passwords casually
=> Using public Wi-Fi without protection
=> Downloading apps with no clear permissions
=> Giving platforms more data than necessary

And they think it’s normal.
It is NOT normal. It is NOT secure.

The rules of cybersecurity are clear

You cannot just “gain access” and assume you’re authorized. Systems are designed to separate the two for your protection.

If you log in:

=> You have a right to know what data is collected
=> You have a right to limit permissions
=> You have a right to secure your credentials
=> You should NOT grant indefinite access to apps or services without review

But many people stay quiet because they don’t know. And when you don’t know your digital rights, you can’t defend them.

The takeaway

If someone hacked your account today and started moving files or money without explanation, would you know what to do?

Cybersecurity, like law, is about knowing the difference between access and authorization and insisting that boundaries are respected.

I just stopped a phishing email that was about to drain his bank account… He calls his pastor to gift him a Jeep. 😅

But Bro doesn’t even know I still own the admin keys to his system!
